After about six months of relatively low-carb primal eating with intermittent fasting and close adherance to the workout plan. I'll indulge my craving for ice cream and drink some bourbon now and then, but otherwise eat pretty clean.
My weight dropped from 165 to 156, body fat percentage ~16% to ~10%, waist from 35" to 32". I'm 48, by the way.
why the head cut off?
Well done Cillakat! You're looking great!
You only started PB in May?? With all the knowledge you have acquired on it, I thought you'd been doing this forever! haha.
Ahh, well. One of my dearest friends is a biological anthropologist. Around 15-17 years ago, due to her influence, an evolutionary framework became my default setting for just about everything in my life. Well, at least in theory. :) In practice, I was still veg (ethical/emotional) at the time, I absolutely believed and understood that humans evolved eating meat and that it was therefore biologically appropriate.
Around 7 or 8 years ago, when my youngest was diagnosed with many food allergies, we started eating meat. A lot of it. At the time, it was certainly my intention to move toward a primal/paleo lifestyle but I simply couldn't get off the grains and sugar.
And for probably 20 years, I've been interested in nutrition and related fields. So, yes, there is a hx there, one that goes much much further back than May.
Thank you guys :-) The primal lifestyle DEFINITELY helped me get there. I've always been a small girl, no matter what the hell I ate, but I suppose I was that "skinny fat" through middle and highschool, then started working out (lots of hard cardio and mild weight lifting) and watching my diet around 15 or 16, about four or five years ago.
I've been on a paleo diet for just about a year now. I went heavy on the HIIT workouts for awhile to lean myself out more, but it was SO physically taxing (although it was sort of like a sick pleasure ;-) Yes, I have that Crossfit mentality...) I've come to discover that intermittent fasting (generally a 16 hour fast/8 hour feed) and doing very intense, heavy lifting sessions about three times a week (calisthenics, baby!) has given me a more stronger, lean physique without burning me out like HIIT did. Becoming a personal trainer this year is giving me even more motivation to keep myself looking strong since unfortunately, looks can sell! ;-)
Batty, SPRINTING!!!! ;-) I've never really touched a barbell.
Jenn, I am 5'4", 106-110lbs., at around 17% BF via a caliper reading about 6 months ago. I'm glad I inspire you! It's totally achievable if you have the right mindset and dedication :-)
ok, now i'm really confident on the direction i'm going, because this is exactly what i am doing now! i used to be the tabata queen myself. i am glad i got over that. heh. i'm down to the last *maybe* 10 lbs of fat i wanna shed. i'll get there!
thank you for sharing!!
I figured I would go ahead and post a few of me. I don't have any with me from when I was about 50 lbs heavier. The first one is from May of this year. That's after a year of being Primal. The second one is from a few days ago. A little bit of a difference in 2 months. I'm happy with it. I've lost 50 lbs total in the past year.
XYZ is AOK! meee-ow!
Tucker, your progress is amazing! Congratulations (to you and whoever else enjoys it ;) )!
Cilla, you look fabulous! And what a gorgeous family. :)
Thanks Batty. I'm sure the guys in the office are wondering why I just let out a horse laugh. :)
Thanks Sungrazer and XYZ:)
