bad advice. you do not want to do this to a person with BPD, they will mentally f*** you up.
Oh believe me, I know. My mom has that and I have fun with it. She's currently pulling the "I hate everything about you and won't ever speak to you again" trick. It will end in a few days (at most). While she's silent I get to mentally prepare myself for round two.
Sociopathy beats BPD every time.

i assumed dado isn't a sociopath because he's been in this relationship for a while.

If she's BPD then she would stay with him. He would probably be having fun though so we can still safely assume he's sane. I still maintain that he should just screw with her.
+ 100
Yeah, maybe, but it was still an asshat thing for me to say to someone in Dado's situation, and if I'd taken a second to note that it was coming from a forum regular (ie-someone who knows folks here and can legitimately expect their support) and not just some random newbie running to interweb strangers for approval, I'd likely have held my tongue.

Marry this woman.
Are you a man?
Did you make a man's choice when you got engaged?
Or are you some sort of craven dog, who's word means nothing?
Follow through and live with the consequences with all of your "strength" or run away like a whimpering little girl who seeks the approval of the gammas in the pack.
A man is bound by his word.

Leave, it isn't going to get better.
I assume she craves drama? Have it all set up before you make your move. When you are on her shit list, it won't be pretty.
And I don't see what is wrong with asking forum members their opinion...the ones you *know* and whose judgment you trust. Objectivity helps. It is not as if you are bound to do anything with the responses here.
BPD is scary stuff, my sister has it and the no shades of grey is spot on. It is amazing you havelasted that long - did it only manifest during the relationship?

I have a BPD sister and I say get as far away as possible! The stress is unreal, it's really not worth it. I love my sister to death, but you know, somedays I just want to jump off a bridge.

I've estranged myself from my entire mother's side of the family for essentially being a vampire nest of borderlines. Best. Life decision. Ever.
