It can be if you aren't getting enough potassium to balance it out. As I understand it, you want to be eating about 3:1 potassium to sodium ratios daily. Sodium is not the enemy though, lack of potassium is more likely the true cause of concern.
I'm not a fan of huge bacon quantities due to nitrate preservatives, unless you can get a source without them. I haven't been able to.
