Australia Must Be Amazing

don't want to live anywhere else :) i don't care what the yobbos look like, but yes, the food is fabulous. bought 58kg side of beef last week for $6.75 a kilo. i live in a food bowl so fresh stuff is easy to get :)

I visited the USA and Canada a while back and recall being absolutely gobsmacked at the quality of the fruit and veg. My SIL took me to the supermarket and I was recoiling from the fruit. It was really REALLY bad. It was summer in Minneapolis. I couldnt believe my eyes.

Anyway our country is great, Bill Bryson is hilarious and brilliant.. love his book on Australia, although he does get a few things wrong!
Not much tho.

We def have the best bacon in the world bar none.

As for us being all sexy and thin... yeah maybe in the 70s. Not so anymore... sad but true.

I buy Barossa Fine Foods nitrate-free bacon...it's pretty tasty. If I can get it here in Alice Springs I imagine it would be available in most cities and major towns. You can check the store locator on their website.

Anyone know where to source some raw goat milk/yoghurt in Melbourne?..

Great produce is only a help if it is available. We are getting more farmers markets and organic produce in the cities, which is a good break from the two massive chain grocery stores. Same old problems with the wealth of processed food and junk around.

The basic USA supermarket produce is really, really awful. We think nothing of picking unripe produce in Mexico and letting it "ripen" on a truck while it travels 3,000 miles and spends two weeks under refrigeration before a customer sees it. Hence the low prices! You can get gorgeous produce at farmer's markets and co-ops though, as good as anywhere I've ever been, but you've got know where / when to go.
