So I have an idea for a homemade gel and wanted some feedback on it.
Chia + coconut water + nuun tablets.
flavor coconut water with the Nuun tabs, then add it to the chia. Thoughts?
This would be for 10 mile runs & upwards.
I see plenty of benefits in it. Just wanted to make sure I'm not crazy and/or alone in this thought.
I absolutely do not want to take a factory made gel, so I'm trying to come up with my own.
AFAIK the only thing in (decent) commercial energy gels I'd want to avoid are the preservatives - which are also in Nuun tablets. Didn't Mark talk about coconut water recently and mention that it contains electrolytes? In which case perhaps you don't need the Nuun at all. Personally though I would go for an energy drink, either homemade or a decent commercial one (without preservatives) although I appreciate a gel is often more convenient when running.
The nuun tablets are mostly for flavor, but they also have electrolytes and sodium.
I like the coconut water idea
tried it out today. Definitely need to keep the liquid ratio higher than the chia ratio. One bottle was too thick, but the other one was close to being just right. Looks like rat droppings, tastes like coconut funk. lol
