REI is having a good sale right now and I have been salivating over the barefoot shoes. They have a really good selection and 20% off....hmmmm...
After a virtual lifetime of foot problems I am hesitant to try anything new while I am pain free, and at the same time I am always wanting to try something new. What to do, what to do.
Am making a liquid fat bomb for myself right now, feeling a bit peckish and too early for dinner.
Back is coming around, I found I actually forgot about it for a couple of moments this afternoon. I can pick up something from the floor without huge contortions and almost but not quite cut my toenails.
Got a new gadget - an old fashioned juicer for squeezing lemons. Love that fresh-squeezed lemonade. Funny, I thought I hated stevia, but I like it fine in lemonade and in smoothies. Speaking of which I had a smoothie with raw goat milk (not quite primal but a nutritional powerhouse and good for allergies), a banana, two strawberries, and half a scoop of protein power. Oh, and a packet of stevia. It was quite nice. I should have added some coconut oil but I forgot. I love the color strawberries give to smoothies, so pink!
Since I'm pretty sure it's all girls here, I might as well mention for the record that I got my period today. Quite soon after the last one, only 25 days I think. I will be 53 in less than a month. Forever youthful, that's me.
Another gadget I got is little twirly things that hold up my hair - they work great! You just twist up your hair into a bun and twirl one in from the top and one from the bottom. They don't show and they don't pull at all. Doesn't take any longer than a ponytail and more comfy. Will be great for work.
Oh dear. I am happy for you that you know what the problem is, but... sciatica! I pinched my sciatic nerve in my lower back a number of years ago and it was definitely the worst pain I have ever known. I also still have a bit of numbness in two toes (and I can find the line of numbness with my fingers all the way down my leg) but other than that I have had a complete recovery. They didn't give me any meds or anything, other than the pain killers in the hospital for the few hours I was there. They had to give me something very heavy-duty just so I could l lie flat for the X-rays without screaming. One of only two times in my adult life I cried with pain.
Came home with a walker... :( Luckily didn't need it for too long.
Anyway, I wish you a prompt and full recovery. Find a way to make lemonade out of this lemon and enjoy your week off as much as can be done. Read, laze, spoil yourself, fill your ears with good music, watch the flowers and the birds and the goats.
Liquid fat bomb. What a good idea. Wait- I am fasting today. Rats!
There is always tomorrow!
Back is feeling better. Much better. Hope it continues. I know it will. I feel myself healing...om....om...om...
Judg, you should have heard me screaming when I got in and out of the car! And up first thing in the morning. Would have brought back bad flashbacks. Glad that stage is over. The car is still torture but I don't have to scream anymore.
I want to be a Primal Blueprint Real Life Success Story so bad! That is my goal. I had better get some blimpy pictures of myself before I get too svelte. (Hahahahahahha) Then I'm going to get a slinky strapless red cocktail dress and some red fives to match and go for the Friday stardom. Yeah!
Good on the fasting! I'll be joining you soon. Yep, feeling better.
I think we have the same fantasy dress! Mine is somewhat Jessica Rabbitish. I have the hourglass to carry it off, if not the guts.
With red vibrams to match? :D

Well, a little setback - woke up in some kinda pain last night, after a very chill evening. Ended up being up most of the night and then slept till 10:30 on this gorgeous day. I'm getting really tired of this. Ran to the post office and luckily the cat stuff I ordered came - their hairball stuff and some pheromones that I plug into an outlet that keeps them from fighting. (Wish this stuff worked on humans.) Quick stop at thrift shop, which closes early today, to buy some plates for work. (Mine keep disappearing.) Back home, made lemonade, I love that stuff. Getting hungry, it has been a long time since I ate. Also need a shower really badly, I can tell. When you can tell, it is way past time!
A couple of years ago, after I had gained quite a bit of weight, I was window shopping with a male friend and admiring a red dress. I wondered out loud if I could wear it, and he said, quite innocently, when I met you you could have worn it. The truth hurts! But I still think about wearing a really great dress sometime - and being able to carry it off.
