we found the couch and chairs we will buy :) now looking for coffee and side tables. Why are they so expensive? A coffee table doesn't need to cost $400 or more! but its sure hard to find one cheaper than that. We want stuff that isn't going to fall apart in a few years but we don't need to drain the bank to pay for it. UGH!
We ate mexican yesterday - I only ate part of a flour tortilla - just part - normally I would have eaten 2 or 3 - so call this a success. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp - I had 2 bites of rice and maybe 1/2 cup of refried beans. Drank water even though thats the place that makes the best long islands in the world! All in all - I think I did good.

Our christmas tree is finally in the house and decorated! :) This is the first year hubby and I have picked out the tree. The kids have always had control in that department. Felt a bit strange decorating without them........ I mean, this is the first time its been STRESS-FREE!!! We can't find the stockings and stocking holders............. thats pretty weird. But honestly, I don't mind cuz I didn't want to put them up this year anyway. I just wanted things different this year. I wonder where they are though. We always keep all the Christmas decorations together in the garage. Hubby looked and looked but couldn't find them. I will go out tomorrow morning and see if I can find them. He loves them - and really is upset that he can't find them. It would be nice if I could suprise him and have them up when he gets home from bible study tomorrow night.
I ate a couple sugar cookies today. Hubby brought them home from the store...... they tasted yucky. I think I will try to make some sugar cookies with legal stuff. :)
I haven't eaten much over the past few days. Could be the sickies keeping me from having an appetite. I feel hungry, but it doesn't take much to fill me up. Tonight I made salmon, shrimp and sweet potatoes. I ate the s.p. and the shrimp, and only a few bites of the salmon and I was done. I'm getting very good at stopping when I have that "don't want more" feeling. I can't remember the last time I ate until I was overly full. Its just very odd that I didn't really want the salmon - cuz thats my favorite thing to eat! Maybe I've had so much I'm getting tired of it? Hubby would love it if I told him he could smoke all the rest of the salmon in the freezer. Smoked is the best way to eat it! :)
I hope this cold goes away soon - I'm tired of being a mouth breather! :p

Congrats on your successful weekend! I went out and bought a birthday cake for MIL and didn't have a slice. I did reserve the right to snitch two of the chocolate kisses off of it though, so that was my festive cheating. I'm with you, I consider that victorious. It was deliberate, a tiny amount, and I stopped easily when I was done.
well - by "legal" I mean - baked with stevia instead of sugar, and not with grain flour. I'm not very adventurous about the whole baking thing. My one attempt at making something with almond flour turned out pretty good - but with the price of the almond flour it wasn't worth it.
So - I'm going to try something. I just read something in another journal about nutritional ketosis. I've heard others talking about it but never tried to do it myself. So - starting today I'm going to be aiming for higher fat, lower protein and VLC! Something in the range of 85% fat, 12% protein and 3% carbs. From what I read this should result in rapid weight loss and that keto HIGH I hear about. I had 4 slices of thick bacon for breakfast. I have bacon nearly everyday though - so thats nothing new. I'll stop at the store after work and pick up some cream cheese. I'm going to do a bit of reading on the uses of stevia -- my homemade ice cream recipe would be very high fat, and if I could make it with stevia - it would be totally primal as well. I haven't been taking fish oil, so I'm also going to get that, or cod liver oil.
I have a feeling this will help me get the rest of this weight off - keep me from craving goodies - and give me the energy boost I need.
Ah gotcha. Personally, I think the almond flour is more than worth it (do you have a bulk place you can get it from?) but then I don't eat it in vast amounts. More laziness than virtue, I'm afraid.
Fred Meyer often has sales on Bob's Red Mill products. I just bought several bags of almond flour for around $7 each. Regular price is around $10.
I seem to remember my sister saying that it's even cheaper at the mill in Milwaukie.
I haven't been checking to see if the almond flour ever comes on sale. I do all my shopping at Fred's so I guess I better start making a pass through the health food isles while I'm there. :) That $10 price tag is why I don't go the way of baking. Well, that and cuz I know I'd eat too much of it and probably gain a ton!
I had shredded zucchini sauted in home grown turkey broth, with crumbled baked salmon and 2 TB cream cheese. Breakfast was bacon. I need to eat more cuz I'm only at 644 calories. I'm shooting for 1200. I'm going to eat some almond butter in a bit. Normally I stir in about 1/4 cup honey into the jar - its 26 oz jar - but I'm going to see how it is without the added sweetness. I'll have to figure out something else......... I can't eat 550 calories of almond butter......... well, I COULD! but I shouldn't ;)
I almost bought some dark chocolate --- but after looking at the carbs I decided not to. It was a bit weird wandering around the store thinking............ what can I buy thats just full of fat? I ended up with cream cheese, almonds w/cinnamon and mozzarela cheese. Not sure what I'll do with that........ Maybe try the cauliflower crust pizza idea?
I've been doing this higher fat, moderate protein, VLC for a while now - but not the extent I am now. I hope I see some really good results! My birthday is only 7 months away - and I still have about 45 pounds to lose. I've been hanging in the lower 180's way too long now! Its time to drop another 10 pounds! I'd like to be hanging in the lower 170's for a bit! :)
I just bought a jar of cashew butter - a bit pricey but no more so than almond butter. Trouble is, I really like it! Okay, I will admit I could eat the entire jar. But I won't.
I'm interested in how you do with VLC. I bet it will work!
