Oh, you sound so miserable! I'm so sorry! Have you tried putting hot wash cloths on your face to ease the pain and pressure? I just can't believe you are still suffering so much after so many antibiotics and all.........
Does this happen every year? I'm wondering if you could possibly have some nasal polyps that are blocking the passages and keeping all that gunk in there? Maybe its time to go see an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist. If using the NetiPot for a week doesn't clear things up - I'd strongly suggest seeing another doctor. You might need some more testing to find out whats going on in there!
No I have never had problems with sinus infections before. I'd get one here and there with the seasons, but never one that has lasted this long and been this brutal.
So, you wanna hear something super cool?? I'm taking an online class for social media marketing as an elective for grad school. I thought it would be an easy A and it has been anything but... I've actually had to work my butt off in this class.
Anyhow, I had done up the powerpoint presentation (which you guys saw if you clicked on my Google Docs link and was scheduled to go. I couldn't get the class platform to load (the program we use to communicate via the web) so I made arrangements with my professor to do it at 2 today from work. 2 came and went and I wasn't able to log on here either. It would load the app but would not connect. I called him to let him know what was going on, fully expecting to give the presentation over the phone instead with him flipping through the charts on his end, etc. Apparently he didn't want to do that b/c he said that b/c I've been one of his best students, I've always been on time with my assignments, always communicated well with him and have really grasped the material, he was going to excuse me from giving the vocal presentation. How freaking awesome is that?!?!?!
Pretty freaking awesome :) Good work!
Wow! That's awesome. What a nice professor. Hope you get more of those. :D Hope your sinus clears for the weekend!
Made an appt with a local ENT. After someone mentioned polyps yesterday I thought I'd at least let them have a look. Looking back, I remember when I started eating Primally and people were talking about how their congestion and stuffiness improved with the removal of wheat and what not, and I remember thinking that I wasn't experiencing that and wondered why. Looking back even further, I have had a stuffier nose for at least 8 months. Work Friend said her friend has polyps and one completely closed off 1/2 of her nose so no matter what she could only breathe through one nostril. I've noticed my right nostril is always clearer than my left. So, maybe polyps are the answer? I don't know.
Anyhow, a friend of mine works at the ENT office and she made my appt for next Friday afternoon. She said I may end up with a CT scan so I called my insurance to make sure I woudln't get dinged for a CT scan fee. Insurance rep said it's covered. Thankfully b/c our Health Savings debit card is BROKE! No money left. We've already burned through $1,000 in co-pays and prescriptions. That's ridiculous. Glad I'm no longer taking Rx pills for mental health. That used to be $80 a month.
Speaking of mental health... my appointment with the psychiatrist is next Monday. I'll be telling her that I've stopped taking my meds. We'll see how she reacts. What I'm MOST interested in is for her to see my weight loss. She weighs us each time we're in there (I guess to see if we're gaining weight because of meds or maybe even for dosage decisions? who knows). It'll be great to step on the scale and show her a 20 lb loss. :)
It's kind of raining today. Really short light showers is all we're getting. I wish it would just rain and rain and rain. We need it. They're saying the midwest is going through a drought. I can see the price of produce skyrocketing... :(
Day 12 of the Whole30. No binges so far! YIPPEE!! Gained 2 lbs this week. Maybe from muscle repair b/c of LHT on Wednesday? It still hurts to walk. Very tender meat on my legs right now.
Yeah, I think that's all I've got... I hope everyone's having a nice day.
Visiting an ENT is my next step in dealing with allergies and post-nasal drip. If there's something about about my sinuses or nasal cavities, they might be able to tell and it could be impacting my congestion. I'm not even going to touch that visit with a 10 ft long pole right now, as I need to find out from insurance if it's covered first, and I just don't have the energy to bother right now.
Oh, forgot to mention that I added a supplement. I added a Tart Cherry extractive supplement. It's supposed to help reduce inflammation, so why not? The bottle said to take 1 capsule, but I don't see the harm in taking 2 so I took 2. I look at it as eating one bowl of cherries, and then eating a second. ;)
I've noticed a HUGE change between how my body feels on the days I take my cod liver oils and when I don't. Things are stiff and tight and don't want to operate right when I don't take them, and a naturopath like person who is friends with me on facebook and a HUGE paleo advocate said that taking more fish oil will make my blood thin, causing shortness of breath and all that jazz, and suggested I add tart cherry. Since I'm not eating grass-fed yet (can't afford), I'm concerned about all those Omega-6's overwhelming my Omega-3's, and wondered what the harm would be in taking more Omega-3. She suggested this, so I decided I'd try it. See how it works. Let the Omega-3s work on the Omega-6's and let the cherrys work on keeping things flexible. ;)
I worry about my O3/O6 ratios too, but for whatever reason, after taking supplements daily or even multiple times a day, I STILL never remember to take my fish oil capsules. I don't recall ever noticing anything really different while taking them (initially tried them for depression), but I do have joint pain sometimes (usually after wheat exposure, but sometimes randomly) and wonder if that would help.
I love my Fish Oils. If I take nothing else, I at least take my fish oils. I started them as a depression tackler too, but later realized they worked for my inflammation as well.
I am now 3 weeks medication free... still zapping some. Just thought I'd throw that out there. lol
G*D DAMN MY NOSE IS THROBBING!! STOP THROBBING!!!
