I'm really ready for this cough to go away... afraid it might be bronchitis...
Long as it's not whooping cough. That's going around, apparently. Grandson might have it. :(
A good home remedy for persistent cough is to rub Vick's Vapo-rub on the soles of your feet at bedtime, then pull on socks. This has worked for me without fail, ever since I learned it a few years ago. Only takes me one or two nights, also. Easy and low-cost to try, too, which is always a plus for me.
Sugar Binge Annihilation Day 1 was a success. I was 100% primal yesterday. I overate, but I was primal. And I lost 1 lb... one real lb, not one I'd gained back. If you consider ones I gained back, I actually lost 3 lbs overnight... whatever. I'm happy to be at 206 now. that means only 6 more lbs and I'll be looking at the 100's again! ROCK. ON.
That's so intimidating, actually. The 100's... I've been over 200 lbs for so long that 100's is intimidating. That means some serious weight loss has been occuring. It's awesome, but intimidating and I'm not sure what to think. am I ready? Under 200 is the realm of the successful and I haven't been successful for so long that I don't know if I belong with the likes of them. They say weight loss is a mental game, but I never would have expected to experience anxiety over reaching a weight below 200 lbs... Good thing I didn't reach it today.
206. That's a good number, I think. It means I've lost 15 lbs this year (11 since going primal). But that's only an average of 3 lbs per month. Maybe I should just stop analyzing this and say "I lost 15 lbs so far this year". That's all that really matters anyway.
Today, food looks like this:
3 sausage links
3 boiled eggs (yesterday I only ate two so might do the same today)
left over taco meat
big bowl of shredded iceberg lettuce
1/2 roma tomato
1/4 cup shredded cheddar
salsa and sour cream
Scalloped potatoes and ham, me thinks.
I wanna make bison burgers or bison steak, but DH is working second so they're gonna have to wait a bit longer.
I made the coconut macaroons last night. They were pretty good. A little less sweet than I anticipated b/c I'm used to store bought ones, but good nonetheless. The coconut I found (only option for unsweetened) was chipped coconut. I tried to chop it down to a finer consistency using the food processor but it didn't work. So the consistency of the macaroons is a bit off, but the taste is there.
After I made them, I went to the store and picked up some sweetened coconut. I think that's going to have to be my vice now. Unsweetened coconut doesn't do it for me. It's like it's missing out on that rich coconut flavor... But then again, maybe I just need to give the coconut chips a little soaking in water or something b/c they're dried instead of moist like sweetened coconut... might be worth a shot.
I think I might take a short walk today in my fast flats and see how it goes. This is my 3rd day of wearing them all day. I think it might be time to venture outward a bit. I miss walking.
Ok, I think I've run out of things to ramble about. I hope everyone's having a nice day.

That has never worked for me. It's worked for my kids to some degree, but NEVER for me. DH works for the company that makes Vick's so I have two jars of it at home - even cheaper b/c they gave them to us. But seriously, I've never had luck with that approach. I think it's likely bronchitis and is going to require a doctor's intervention. waiting it out a bit longer.

I've been vaccinated against it. As have my kids.
Regarding your wonderful 206: I think you may definitely have something there. I think ecks is the most successful one of the people I check in on, and I notice he also has a lot of protein and not so many vegetables. Wondering if tons of vegies might make stomachs big and then really hungry after all those vegies digest. Have no idea, but it's working for ecks and sure is working for you. Congratulations. WTG.
I've actually cut down on the amounts of vegetables too. I just can't see grok stuffing in a whole huge head of kale a day plus a ton of other vegies. It seems more like she would have picked here and there!
Jenn, ONLY three pounds a month? That's 36 pounds a year, and trust me, you will field an insane number of compliments if you keep that up?
Yes, success can be intimidating. It's new territory. It's like the guys who get out of prison and then commit a crime in the hopes of being caught. They've got prison figured out; freedom is terrifying. I am still wrapping my head around the new me, to tell you the truth, even if I haven't reached my goal and there is still a lot of plumpness to eliminate. And losing it gradually has meant I've had several head readjustments to do. But they're fun. Yes, saying good-bye to 200 was a major milestone (that's when I discovered I had bones in my shoulder...) And last spring I finally realized I no longer felt horribly visible, like a person with a deformity. That was an insane feeling; that people were not looking at me with pity. I liked it, but it was so strange. I hadn't even realized that I felt so visible. And now, I am starting to feel visible in a good way. Or at least I was, till I saw the pictures from this weekend. LOL. Yup, still have to lose some more... My problem is now that I see myself as thin, so evidence to the contrary is disconcerting. Oh well, I'll get there, even if it's only at the rate of one pound per month, as long as I get there.
Um...you may have just joined the ranks of the recidivists. What is that coconut sweetened with? Didn't you just say you wanted to cut out the sugar for a while?
Yes yes yes... I know. It's sweetened with sugar.
