Got into a food fight on Facebook... I don't think it's done yet. If you're associated with me on Facebook, and want to weigh in, go to my page and look for the post that compares twinkies (as safe per the FDA) to raw milk (unsafe according to the FDA). Me and Tim Stewart and Rachel Flowers got into a debate with a gal named Erin Cook, a nursing student. It's quite interesting.
PS, she's a former cancer patient... She was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in high school.

Don't fret about me, Jenn; I'll be fine.
Trying to visualize an internet food fight. :)

I just read that whole thing. Wow that's a lot. I think I would've stopped saying anything a while back, nobody is going to change her mind.

Tim is relentless... lol And I'm the type that always has to have the last word. ;)

Good luck on your food fight - hope you win! :)

I think we did. The last comment on the post is from her asking someone how she can insult and ridicule but won't accept the same in return, or something like that... Basically, it sounds like she's picking a fight, so it makes her look bad... we've all agreed to leave it at that, allowing her to get the "last word" that makes her look poorly. All this over a picture stating that the FDA has deemed twinkies safe and raw milk unsafe... lol
Food fights... they're not just for the cafeteria anymore! :)
Drama around the christmas party I'm planning for work. Recently my organization has broken off from our parent organization. If you have no clue about military structure, consider it to be like your kid moving out of your house. We are the kid and the other organization in the building is our parent. Our parent is also having a Christmas party, of which we usually attended in the past b/c as the kid, we didn't have our own party.
This year, because we are "moving out" we're hosting our own party for our friends (employees). Our parent is ticked b/c they were relying on our numbers when planning their party, even though we told them we were having our own party. So they booked this HUGE room at a local casino. Before they signed the contract for this big room, we told them we are definitely having our own party. We even signed our contract for our banquet hall before them... all they had done at this point was book the room, and bookings can be changed... contracts cannot... Anyhow...
The way things work around here is that you get a 4 hour pass as a civilian employee to attend a work based christmas party - any one of your choosing. If you attend 2 parties, you can have a 4 hour pass for one and would have to take leave for the other. I did this last year so I could attend the party for my former office and the party for my new office (switched jobs in September last year - felt it necessary to go to both parties). This is how it has ALWAYS worked.
ANYHOW, our parent is trying to tell us and all of our employees that we only get the 4 hour pass if we attend their party because we still technically live in their house and must follow their rules and to attend our own party we will have to burn up 4 hours of leave. My boss is saying this is untrue. It has stirred up a shitstorm!! It's stupid...
That's all I've got... nothing exciting going on, really. still losing the battle with sugar... otherwise, doing well.
OH! And I scheduled the final payment on the refrigerator/toolbox... it will be paid off, officially, on Friday. :)

It is always wise to allow a fool to have the last word. One thing I have learned in life is the person who gets the last word is not the one who has won the argument, but the one who was too stupid to shut up sooner. I have also learned that when I bang my head against a wall, it is harder on my head than the wall. All learned the hard way, of course.

Very wise advice, Judg. Sadly, Tim and Rachel continued to fight with her... I simply posted a bunch of links from MDA showing how foods affect gene expression - she said cancer is a genetic disease (agree) and that you can't prevent it. I showed her thorugh 8 or so different MDA blog posts written by Mark that it is possible. She didn't respond to my links last night so I assume that means she was either not online or was reading feverishly.

Ah, it seems maybe the food fight is over... no comments since about 9 pm last night...

Feeling low today... work is making me feel less than optimistic... tried to see if John Deere or Procter & Gamble have any openings... nothing I'm qualified for.
I feel stuck and unutilized... I'm bored. I feel like I'm not adequately doing my job... I need a project. Something that keeps me busy for longer than an hour. I need a job that requires more work from me... If I don't have work to consciously think about, I venture into "non-work" activities like reading MDA... I wish I was busier at work...
I know I should be thankful that I have a job (I am, trust me), but I feel like since I don't have a lot of work to do, and I'm NOT busy must of the time and therefore read stuff online or do personal stuff, that people think I'm a slacker or not doing my job... I really really REALLY wish my day was filled with more on-the-job tasks...
