Lol! The beavers wrecking the view - good thing is the sumacs grow pretty fast usually so hopefully it won't be too long before the view is improved. We just don't tolerate being in town, we need space and quiet and lots of nature. We usually end up choosing to live in less than pristine houses so that we can be outside of town limits. The kids just love being outside - as do we all, and there is something so refreshing about the water and wind and sky.
Well, progress today! 190.5 lbs today! Oh yeah! I can feel the 180's are just peeking at me around the corner! BRING IT ON! I am feeling good too - energetic and clear headed. And loving the cooler weather. So glad that the renewed effort is paying off. Judg, what is your recipe for the banana muffins? My kids used to love banana muffins but the recipe I had is of course no longer possible.
School first thing today and then I want to try and plan a camping trip for us before it gets too cold at night. Need to find all the bits and pieces and get them in order ... we haven't camped since we moved so I need to try and flush everything out of hiding :)
This is our favorite time of the year to get out as everyone is back to school and work and we have the lovely places to ourselves, mostly.
Going to skip breakfast for now and just have my tea and cream - so very delicious on a chilly morning when my toes and nose are ever so slightly chilled. I really need to figure out shoes for myself for the colder weather. I have lived in flip flops this summer because they were what I had and because my heel was so painful. But, I need something warmer for the frost and snow that is coming without sacrificing comfort. Sneakers just don't do the trick anymore - my feet are just the wrong shape for most shoes actually. Thinking seriously of trying to make myself some mocassins - only thing that is holding me back is I really don't want to make something that doesn't turn out well and then I either have to wear something totally clunky or fork out more money for something better. Problem is that custom made mocassins are VERY expensive indeed... will have to mull this over and talk with hubby about it...

I wish I liked stevia. It has a taste that doesn't appeal to me. Luckily, I drink coffee with a bit of half and half, and that seems to work. I do keep raw honey and raw sugar, but I never use them. I think they probably last forever.
Trying to get on the PB again, but I'm having a bit of a hard time. Definitely stress related. We have a caretaker that will do anything my mom needs plus she's in an assisted care center, and she's still calling. I do have her on a silent ring, so that helps somewhat, but there are huge issues going on that are non-related to her and when she calls me a zillion times to go get her a wristwatch (she has two clocks in her room!!) it just drives me nuts. A botched surgery on my BIL and one of my sisters with skin cancer plus two other issues is really enough for anyone.
But I am going to really try to get back on the bandwagon. Seeing your pictures and hearing your numbers really help a lot!
Coll, I eyeballed the muffins a bit, seeing as I didn't have quite the right amount of banana for my recipes. Ended up with 9 muffins. I mashed the equivalent of 2 ripe medium bananas (3 minus the bad bits), added a spritz of lemon juice and stirred it in, then 4 large eggs, and about 4 tbsp. of melted butter. Combined about a cup of almond meal, a tablespoon of baking powder, lots and lots of cinnamon, a bit of salt and some stevia, and stirred all that in. The batter looked too runny to me, so I added more almond meal till it looked like normal muffin batter. Baked at 375 for 25 minutes, although 20 would have been enough, but I felt like having them nice and golden brown on top. Oh, and I added some raisins too. No walnuts this time, because I've eaten a lot of nuts lately and didn't want to overdo it. I mean, it was already half almonds...
The sumacs are not on the same side as the amputated trees, I'm afraid. They are on our quiet street. The remaining trees are all ringed in wire mesh... Heh. They paid more to get nature, they got nature... LOL! I was kind of on the beavers' side, although I understood their frustration. Now I'm just annoyed that I can't look down into the ravine anymore from public spaces. Oh well.
Pam, we all need each other to help us on our way. I always find it motivating to read everyone else's journals and realise that there are others on the same journey with similar struggles and challenges. And we are all clawing our way through the distractions and trying to overcome our 'disabilities' and are all having little moments of triumph, and then doubt, even despair. But somehow we keep picking up and dusting off and trying again. And little bit by little bit we gain ground - hopefully one day I will get some momentum again! Just do what you can as you can and keep looking after yourself in the midst of it. It sounds like you have your hands more than full at the moment. So sorry!
Judg, thanks for the info. I have never done much baking at all and there is something about primal baking that gives me such a kick! It seems to me that it is a lot harder to flop the recipes I have tried. It is unheard of for me to try and bake something and have it turn out great every time! I am looking forward to trying the muffins, maybe on Sunday when I don't do school. :) I got a bit of a giggle hearing about folks who paid so much just to have a wildlife family move in and wreck their 'view'!!
Well, I had a very backwards compliment from DD today, actually made my day :) I was standing bent over at my desk, writing, when she said," Mom, those pants used to fit you nicely, now they look huge! They remind me of clown pants now, I think they are too big for you!" Yeeha! These pants have seen me through many years of obesity, they were my go to pants for everything. Kind of like a security blanket ... and now I have to start letting them go. They are elasticized, but not enough. I have to hitch my britches every few steps or they start to creep too low. Today I am officially 'overweight' versus 'obese'! May the drift continue downward!
The weather service keeps predicting snow and then changing their minds at the last minute. But it certainly seems as though we might end up with a very early snow! Getting ready to make fried green tomatoes if so. I spent some time today cruising recipes at food lover's kitchen, elana's pantry etc and found all kinds of yummy foods to try out on the family. DH is in raptures looking forward to the primal goodies :)
I have not taken vitamins etc for ages! Started us all up again today, vit D3, cod liver oil, cinnamon, turmeric, rosehips, evening primrose oil (for me), chlorella and I can't think what else. Been really thirsty today again... Drinking lots of water ...
I had zucchini fritters and leftover meatloaf for lunch, a lovely fresh carrot from the garden and 1 oz of parrano cheese and 3 olives. (Yummy!) Midafternoon I was really hungry and the kids asked for a piece of chocolate. I gave them both one and then ate the last 3 pieces of the chocolate that has been making its way rather too frequently into my belly! Dinner was a chicken drumstick (grilled) and a big bowl of salad, including olives and cheese. Feel good though I do feel now as though I could eat more. Fortunately it is bedtime and I need to take the Wobenzyme on an empty stomach - so can't have anything else to eat now. Will just have breakfast if I am really hungry in the morning. I have all kinds of lovely leftovers just waiting to be eaten - convenience food indeed! Stop at the fridge and grab a chicken leg, or a boiled egg, or a slice of meatloaf, or spaghetti sauce or.... mmm. Looking forward to tomorrow :)
Hurray for changing categories! Although I find the obese category goes pretty low. I guess what they mean is "heavy enough that there are significant health concerns". And yes, that was a wonderful compliment from your daughter. Time to buy new pants.
I find stretch jeans to be the absolute best shrinking clothes, pants-wise, for what it's worth. I buy them tight enough to make a bit of a muffin top and wear them at first with loose tops only. When they are starting to get too big, the stretch and the thickness of the fabric makes them look less baggy than polyester and similar fabrics.
Yippee for overweight instead of obese. I hit overweight for about two days, then lost the flow, but I'm ready to start again this morning. Clown pants, eh? Yep. Time for a shopping trip for you too:-)
Hey, I was just thinking. I might be able to lose weight and not have to shop for so much. In a drawer packed away somewhere are two pair of 36-32 jeans, my next size down. Hmm! Think of the books I could get:-) Then all I'd have to get would be underwear, socks, and maybe a few shirts:-) Jeans are the most expensive part.
I have always been horrible about throwing away underwear that is past its sell-by date! I'm getting better. I get motivated to do so my seeing the nasty stuff that people show up wearing into the ER. Still, my favorite panties have a frayed waistband, and I just can't let them go...
OK. I am going to get underwear. Poked my finger through another pair yesterday when pulling them on!
