Primal Papa did not give it much time, did he?
When his A1C and weight didn't improve, he got frustrated. Yes, only 4 months. I wish he'd stuck with it. I think he said he was going to follow the "diabetes diet" prescribed by his doctor.
Yes, I don't think he gave it very long, especially considering all the benefits he DID get from it. He was fun to read, too. Oh, well. Grumpyoldman gave us a heads up: he was going to be in a situation where he could only check his email every week, and didn't feel like he wanted to keep his journal up. So...he said good-bye, but I still miss him. I never saw Betorq after he moved back to California. Hopefully he's just super busy with the change and will poke his head back in. PrimalCajun was the first person to ever 'speak' to me on the forums. She just doesn't come around, i guess. I hope she's not in jail for killing her mother-in-law. :)
I am off on another college visit in a few minutes. Wish me luck. It is not so much the time away, but the day or two after I get home. My mind seems to feel it deserves 'treats' when I've been travelling, or politely passing up things that, though delicious, WILL MAKE ME FEEL LIKE CRAP, FOR GOODNESS SAKE, DON'T GO THERE AGAIN! Where are my WonderWoman bracelets when I need them?!?
Oh, and I didn't post how yesterday went. Well, not sure I'll have time before my ride gets here, but I essentially ate meat and plants, walked for an hour, and slept. If only all days were so easy.
Have a good weekend, All!
Have a safe trip!!

word
I made it back from the trip in good order. The eating was mostly primal, though VERY uninspiring. To combat the desire to 'treat' myself, now that I am home, I am going to make delicious meats for all my meals today. As soon as I finishing tying this, I'm off to the store to buy pork butt for those carnitas Mark posted last week.
To catch up, here's Thursday:
Up at 5:30
9:00 pork chop with mornay sauce
1C greens gratin
2:30 salmon patty with artichoke mayo
5:30 4 coconut chicken tenders with BBQ sauce
broccoli with feta, olives, yellow peppers, and onion
Water: 8 glasses
Walking: 60"
Bed at 10:30
And Friday:
Up at 5:30
9:00 1C greens gratin
1 bratwurst
1 egg + 2 yolks, fried in
butter
1:30 1 1/2 plates sashimi
seaweed salad
rice
6:30 pathetically tiny green salad with ranch dressing
turkey medallion with bacon
3/4C cauliflower, squash, carrots
1/2C mashed potato with gravy
(This was a banquet dinner. I had NO rolls, or cheesecake, so I'll take a pass on the mp&g.)
9:00 apple
Water: 9 glasses
Bed at 10:00
And now yesterday:
Up at 6:00
7:30 innards from a Burger King sandwich: sausage, egg thing, cheese, bacon
1C greens gratin from home
12:30 double burger, no bun with
avocado
sauteed mushrooms
swiss cheese
mayo/mustard/ketchup
sweet potato fries
4:45 lukewarm chunk of sausage with
dry sauerkraut
1/2 pickle
apple lara bar
6:30 2 coco-chocs with macadamia nuts( These and the cold greens in the morning were the only things I really enjoyed.)
Water: 8 glasses
Walking: 90"
Bed at 8:00
Getting ready for walking around campus on Saturday, I discovered that I had forgotten my PANTS! I will leave you to imagine how I resolved this situation without being arrested. :)
I like your bracelet, Winencandy. Does it deflect bullets, too?
Mmmm carnitas. I finally gave in and made them yesterday. They will be a regular addition to my menu for some time, I suspect.
How was the college visit? Especially without pants... :o
Sabine, I wish you were my chef! Sauces, I need to work on my sauce knowledge! My hubs would love that! I have the joy of cooking, so I guess I will pull that out.
I want a bracelet now too. I have a ton, maybe I should just begin wearing one and attach the significance to it. Maybe one that was my grandmother's.
My plan for today was to eat yummy special food, so that I would nip any urge for 'treating myself' leftover from the trip firmly in the bud. Breakfast and dinner worked out, lunch: not so much.
My Honey saw whole tilapia at the store, so we had those for lunch, which would have been fine had the fillets turned out anything like the size of fillets from the fish counter. No, whole tilapia as presented at our store, are TINY. I got only a morsel of fish, and in order to get it, I had to wrestle with fins and spines, and scales. The fish rammed me underneath one of my fingernails. Very painful. Next time, I'll buy the fillets.
Here's how the day went:
Up at 6:30
9:30 8oz steak with
horseradish
1 egg + 1 yolk fried in
butter
2:00 small amount of tilapia
1C broccoli with feta
3 coco-chocs(to make up for the fish)
6:00 pork carnitas with
cheese
sour cream
guacamole
salsa verde
Water: 7 glasses
Walking: 20"
Bed at 9:30
I only had a small bowl of the carnitas, with about 2T each of all the add-ons. Very moderate for me, but goodness! I was stuffed. Those carnitas are very rich and filling.
Today I am feeling a little down. Having teenagers is a tough time. Lots of challenging items on my to-do list. Guess I have to just pull up my Big Girl Panties and get to it.
But first, a nice breakfast of eggs, greens, and bratwurst!
