Jenn, in that case they should make fluids available in the court, just like they do on the other side of the security gate in airports.
Sabine, good going! In general I find recently acquired weight fairly easy to lose, just like recently lost weight is easy to regain. I'm glad you're on a roll with it.
A joyous day yesterday, just knowing all my chicks were under one roof.
Eldest is having problems with his allergies. While he was living at home, the dachshunds did not bother him. Since he has been away from them, he gets very congested when he comes back and is around them. Seems particularly hard this time, maybe because of the third dog. So we set up the tent in the back yard for him (at his request). And we ran the attic fan for a few hours in the afternoon to give him some relief. We're hoping his medicine kicks in quickly!
Played two rounds of Dominion after dinner with all except Middlest, who joined friends to go see 'The Hobbit'. She stayed over and is going straight to class from her friend's house. Littlest made a double batch of 'Crack Brownies' to bring to school to celebrate the last day before finals today. She has quite a list of people who want them, with an 'extras' list as well. Pretty soon she will be up to triple batches.
I still have congestion, and am coughing up gross stuff, but I feel WELL again. I will keep on with the tea for today.
This is yesterday:
Up at 6:00
Weight: forgot to weigh
10:45 LARGE pork chop
red pepper sauce
6:30 roast chicken thigh
1C homemade sweet and sour red cabbage-yum!
cream cheese-raspeberry-jello dessert(10gC)
9:00 more dessert(10gC)
Walking: 30 minutes
Water: 10 glasses
Bed at 9:30
Today will be busy with chores, and I'll have to stay up late, transporting Littlest from a party way out in the boonies. Bonus: we should be caught up on all our utility bills for the first time in three months! :) No juggling and getting another dreaded pink bill in the mail. Oh, happy day!
I was just in Honeybuns' journal. She and her husband are getting ready to do a road trip in their trailer, and he wants her to bring 20 beef patties. She joked that he can't expect hamburger for every meal, and I joked back that she should just put a different sauce on it each time, thinking of Mark's new book.
Then it hit me: 'Eat Moar Burgers'!
With great restraint, I decided to post this here, instead of on the Nutrition or Odds and Ends threads. :) Just what we need(to avoid), another 'MOAR' thread!
I like beef patties with sauce on them. And I am going to be buying Mark's book as soon as I have the funds. (Hmmm, I could order it at the bookstore, and ask the kids to get it for my Christmas present!)
What a great trial, in two ways. First, getting to taste a lot of the sauces while my enthusiasm for the new cookbook is high. I usually make a few things from a new cookbook, find a favorite or two, then put it aside, and only rarely delve deeper. Bad habit. I've never gone through a la 'Julie and Julia' and done a whole book, or even a whole chapter. Second, meat and fat. A very basic meal plan that is simple and good for me.
Maybe I should think about doing a course of this in the New Year, after my fast. Did I mention that I am going to do a 2-4 day fast starting January 1? I want to get back to my monthly fast experiment, for autophagy, and what more appropriate time for a cleansing/rest? I feel relaxed enough now that I can enjoy it, and not have it be a mental stress.
Lots and lots of good news. No more pink bills! Sickness going away. Head in a good space. :)
So sorry about your son though. This could really cramp family reunions. Tents aren't an option around here at this time of year. I would be in a bit of a pickle if I had to spend a night with some of my cat-crazy offspring. I'm okay for a few hours, but then it gets tough.
2-4 days?? Crazy.
I am also looking into the new book by Mark. Considering getting it with the Amazon gift card I got from my bosses.
also looking at the book.......... I NEED an option for sauces - cuz we love them - and I hate buying the ones filled with all sorts of nasties. I'm going to buy it........... yes. I am.
Glad you're on the mend - those grossies in the nosies will be gone in a few days and then its back to life as usual! My flu lasted 2 full days - I woke up this morning feeling lots better! I have a residual cough that causes a big throb in my head - and a slight sniffle - but the fever and body aches are all done now! :) 48 hour flu. Thats the first one I've have since getting Swine in 2009 - THAT WAS HELL! I seriously thought I would die when my temp hit 104.5.
I like the EAT MOAR BURGERS idea! I was just thinking of that myself. Burgers are a good way to eat on the run. Today I made the oregano mint marinade and just mixed it into a pound of ground beef. Made them into patties and baked them in the oven. Very, very good and something different but stilll easy.
burgers are my fall back meal. when i go out with friends, and nothing looks good, i just order a burger. I've been teased for not being adventurios...
Sitting in my freezer, waiting for Christmas are: a smoked ham, and a smoked turkey, both gifts!
We'll be having our traditional Christmas Eve dinner of bratwurst, sauerkraut, red cabbage, potato salad, and scalloped potatoes, with Roete Gruetze for dessert. (Yes, two kinds of potatoes. Eldest isn't really a fan of potato salad, but he loves scalloped potatoes. And, yes, two kinds of cabbage. My family is from Germany.) Roete gruetze is three kinds of red fruit cooked down with sugar until it is thick and delicious. Served with cream on top.
And now it looks like we have our Christmas Day dinner all planned out. Sliced smoked meats as the centerpiece, cheese, olives, nuts. I'm going to do some antipasto style vegetables. Rolls on the side for those who want them. Yum!
Up at 6:00
11:30 1 1/2 plates of sashimi
1C seaweed salad
NO creme brulee!
6:30 2 bowls goat stew with
tomato, celery, winter squash
4 slices of cheese
2 slices salami
1 whole grapefruit
Walking: none, just doing errands
Water: 9 glasses
Bed at midnight
Hmmm, a little light on both the exercise and liquids. I'll work on those a little today.
I wasn't even really hungry for dinner last night, but I was serving it up for everyone, so I had some too, and then ate hearty. It was all delicious. Perhaps just as well, because I had to stay up late, driving to fetch Littlest and Friends from their party out in Fate. It is a good 45 minute drive one way(the way I drive- I'm an old granny driver), and with construction on the road, which you need to be alert for, especially in the dark.
This morning I woke at my regular time, but managed to go back to sleep for another three hours. Honey helped in this regard. :o
We might be having a celebratory dinner out this evening. Depends on possible plans with friends for Eldest and Girlfriend. If so, it will be at our local Mexican place, and I will be eating fajitas. Without the tortillas, beans, and rice. Plus extra ranchera sauce. Mmmm. But I'm wondering what to do for a late breakfast/lunch. I want to be hungry for dinner, but NOT hungry in mid-afternoon so that I'm tempted to snack and 'ruin' my appetite. Decisions, decisions. I've been naturally eating only two meals per day more often this week, but I don't know that it would be EASY to do a dinner only day yet. Do I want to be working at it? Or just let it happen naturally? But I want to be hungry for Mexican food. Aauughhh!
Sipping more "Kill Everything' tea this morning. I think I will continue until I am not hacking any more.
