Winencandy I love that little poem! Have written it down and want to put it up somewhere! Sabine, enjoy this Thanksgiving to the fullest! So much to be grateful for and I can tell you are having a blast - I am happy with you! Thanksgiving is not something I grew up with so there is not much hooplah in our house over Thanksgiving. Nonetheless I am very happy that we could buy a lamb roast and we are looking forward to partaking :)

Sabine, how is honey liking his new job??
He's liking it pretty well. They are still sort of setting up the project that he will be working on, so he gets to be in on it from the get go, but it means there's not a lot yet to DO. He's brushing up on various languages, etc.
Some stress this morning when the recruiter called, saying she hasn't been able to reach the institute that Honey got his degree at. I think they've closed. I hope this doesn't mean anything bad for his job. He did the work, has the skills, and the piece of paper. Is it his fault if they aren't good businessmen and went under? Trying not to think about it.
Got my shopping half done. The rest will happen tomorrow. Just need to make the beds, put out fresh towels, and start my cooking. And, you know, cruise the forum.
The furniture re-arrangement looks passable. Just one end table leftover with nowhere to go. We'll be able to eat in comfort.
My sister- and brother-in-law arrived, safe and sound, but after a grueling flight delay and even more grueling car ride over here. Lots of traffic and a whacked out GPS leading them hither and yon.
We talked and talked until WAY past my bedtime. That's what holidays are for. :)
I'm going to scamper off and check the journals, and then get busy on PIES. Probably won't be on here much today, but then, that's most likely the deal for everyone else, too.

20 pies? Oh my. Never did anything even remotely like it. Two, yes. Pumpkin, of course.
Presumably your DH's last employer looked into him too and can vouch for his education, if they want to get difficult about it. Or there must be public records somewhere.

My pie making skills involved frozen crusts. Although I DID make the fillings from scratch. Luckily, both my sister and mother have mastered the skill of pie dough. Well, it USED to be lucky for me (before Primal) It's still lucky for my Farmer :)

I love the poem even though I don't have babies. It's true of everything! Pets don't live that long. :( Can't miss any fun with them! And you never know what will happen, when your true blue friend will move to the other side of the globe, or who knows what.
There are pies and cookies everywhere here! I have no desire to eat them. They never taste as good as they look. And I have ribs in the fridge for later. ;)
Nice going on the ribs instead of pie! :) I make a KILLER apple pit - the SAD way - which makes me sad because I won't be making it that way anymore.
I was going to make a primal apple pie for our family gathering - but I think I have talked myself out of it - since I've never tried it before I don't want to take a pie that people will spit back on to their plates!!!! I think I'm going to use almond flour instead of wheat, butter instead of shortening, and stevia instead of sugar.......... do you think that will work? Not sure about the crust. I don't want to make a greasy mess for a crust............. and I don't want it to taste like coconue either!!! UGH - I don't know what to do! I need a pie expert to help me!

I really had fun today. I wish I hadn't had to leave as early as we did. It was great to meet you in person, and I really enjoyed your family and pies. Your dogs (including the adoptee) were cute, too. I didn't make that offer to Middlest just to say it, either. If she picks a major, let me know, and I can point her to whatever the best school in the quad state area (or nation) is for it.

You can do a pressed crust (akin to a cheesecake crust) with an apple pie. Blendy up pecans or almonds until they're a fine meal, mix with just enough butter to make it clump, and press into the pan. For the top of the pie, combine cinnamon, pecan/ almond meal, butter, and a little sweetener (not much) to a strudel like consistency and sprinkle it on top.
