Sounds like a marvellous haul!
thats what I was thinking! :) Blessings from good people! :)
I'm off on a Girl Scout camping trip. There will be fishing, though dinner depends on if we catch anything. :) Otherwise, mac and cheese.
Naiadknight's going to stop by at Thanksgiving time. I will ply her with pie and get to meet her in person.
So, of course, I am worrying.
What is meeting someone in person after you have known them on the internet like?
It's GREAT! I met Greensprout this spring. We had a wonderful time. So will you :)
Honey has the JOB!

Okay, quiche in the oven,
How was it?

Good luck fishing!
mac n cheese :p (I'd fast - I never could stand that stuff)
The quiche was good. And it looked 'purty'. James Bond would be satisfied. (I finished off the last of it this morning, in a pre-breakfast.)
I came home from the camping trip with a persistent headache from all the sugar and starch. Finally vanished after I ate a dinner of real food: barbequed pork roast and crookneck squash casserole. So tasty, and good for me. Planning some Shakshuka for this morning. I need to be well fortified, because today I am going to CLEAN HOUSE. My sister-in-law and her husband are arriving tomorrow. We are giving them our bedroom, so that they can have a comfortable room with an attached bath. This means a down-to-the bones scrub of said bathroom, and vacuuming and dusting galore.
I will also be shopping for pie ingredients. I've cut the number of pies down, but I refused to give up having the party, even when Honey was out of work. There are just some things you need to have in order to be civilized.
Last night Littlest made squirrel cupcakes(looks like squirrels, not made from squirrels) for a friend's birthday today. I must say, they are adorable. Middlest went to spend the night with a friend whose parents are out of town, so I didn't have to get up until 8am this morning. I was looking forward to sleeping a little longer, to make up for my less than stellar sleep on the camping trip. But at 4:45am, Salem woke me up, insisting that NOW was the right time to be rising! An hour ahead of time!! So, although I went to bed at 8:30, there was NO catching up.
And of course, once I was up, SHE went back to sleep on the sofa! There is no justice where dachshunds are concerned.
Honey's snaking out of the kitchen drain was not successful, so we will be staggering forward with our bailing method, and moving that up the list of necessities for once the paychecks start coming.
We were meant to go looking for cars yesterday, so that we could decide what kind we will eventually be getting, but one of Honey's friends wanted to go bike riding while the weather was still good. So off he went, and came back with a broken bike and some serious cuts, scrapes and bumps. He didn't get knocked out, but his bell was rung, rather severely. Bike riding season is now CLOSED for the year. I am grateful he has no broken bones.
Today we will be eating leftovers, to clear the fridge for Thanksgiving. I made a week's menu, and have my cooking planned. (Making two dishes today to put in the freezer, ready to be pulled out.) It might sound tedious to some, but for me, it is part of the fun of Thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday. (And no, not just because of the PIE.) It is such an inclusive holiday. Everyone has something to be thankful for. Whether to God, Nature, other people, or themselves.
For me, all of the above.
For me, Thanksgiving used to always be about the great eats... now it's about spending time with family.
Glad honey is ok.
Bummer about the lack of sleep. Maybe you'll be able to take a nap today?
Almost done with my Thanksgiving Day pre-cleaning...
...nope, just checked the list to see how much more was left, and found I AM done!
Only regular chores left to do. Thank goodness. Anytime I REALLY do housecleaning I am reminded of the saying, 'Housework, if done properly, can kill you.'
All I have to do tomorrow to prep our room for my sister- and brother-in-law, is remove the dog steps, change the sheets, and do a wipe-and-polish of any stuff we get in the bathroom today. Very manageable. I'll get that done, and then start making pies.
Now I am going to put my feet up, have some lunch, and do a little reading before I tackle the regular stuff.
Yes, that's as fascinating as my life is nowadays. I like it. It makes a nice change from drama-drama-drama!
I wish I could clean my house in a few short hours... shoot. Cleaning my house takes a week b/c first I have to spend 3 days picking up, organizing, purging and putting things away. It literally takes a week to clean my house... and it's mindblowingly overwhelming to tackle. so I don't. very often. I think I've done it 3 times. Otherwise, eh...
Hahahahaha-ha!
I wish I could clean my house in a few short hours, too! :)
I cleaned both bathrooms, and our master bedroom, moved things to make space for guests, and did the vacuuming. That's all. Oh, and washed the bathroom rugs. But even in the best of times, I don't consider my house clean. Just 'not too dirty'. I like clean, I'm just not interested in putting in the hours to do it up right, all the time, or even all at once. I'm not even touching the front room, except to make enough space for Honey and me to sleep in there.
I DID put out fresh candles in the bathroom, though. Fancy!
I really really really want a clean house... one that is picked up enough on a regular basis that I can hire a cleaning lady to do the mopping and dusting, toilet and bath scrubbing. But there are constantly toys everywhere, tons of mail to be gone through (when you and your husband go to the dr for regularly scheduled prescriptions, the statements of benefits from the insurance company become overwhelming piles...)
What I need to do is do a little bit every night. But quite honestly, after getting home, dealing with the crazy chaos that ensues when you first get your kids home (Mom! can I watch cartoons? Mom! Can I have some milk? Mom! Can I have a snack? Mom! Can I go outside and play with the dogs... Mom Mom Mom Mom Mom! OMG it's maddening!), then unload the dishwasher that your husband promised to unload when you had your chat weeks ago and he still has yet to unload even once, then load it back up with the dishes that didn't fit and you didn't feel like hand washing last night, then make dinner, then eat dinner, bathe two kids, get two kids in bed, then do dishes AGAIN, I'm flat out tired and don't want to go through the stacks of mail on the counter that make the kitchen look like a hoard in progress.
And then there's Laundry Mountain which no one has tried to scale in weeks sitting atop the dining room table.
It seems GP and I have the same problem within our houses. I think we both need a cleaning fairy.
