Canio and Naiad- thank you for your wisdom. I'll be on the alert for that. And TONS of people still knit. Even socks, although I am sometimes kindly informed that you can buy them at Wal-Mart, for a dollar. Sigh.

I have even seen...Panda socks!

My mom knits a lot of socks. I used to wear them with birkenstocks and shorts to be funny, but then I realized that people just thought I dressed like that. This was before hipsters made clothing into irony so nobody got it. Maybe *I* was a proto-hipster!

Now I don't wear socks unless it's winter and I have to. But I do like wearing my handknit socks around the house. They are stripy and fun and it apparently entertains my mom to knit them so I will happily accept them and even solicit them for my husband (and child once her feet are large enough to make knitting them non-aggravating and not growing so damned fast.)

I know a few people but I doubt they'd be willing to actually put the time in.

If you can find a crochet pattern for 'em, I'll make 'em. My right hand is too stupid for me to knit.

My mom COULD make those socks but the chances of her actually doing so would be about zero. She has, like, NO respect for my English degree. LOL.

Ooh, I'll have to take a closer look for the pattern. I just started making hats, and socks will be on the list. I think I might know what my sister will be getting for Christmas . . . next year. I'll send the practice pair to you, Cori :D
