Looking to shape up and be in prime form for retirement to the swimsuit capitol of Florida my home state. When is still up in the air.
Two years ago when swept into the deep Atlantic ocean by a rip current I was astonished how well I was able to save my own life - even forgetting to swim parallel with the shore I fought the current with every swimstroke I had ever learned. Though thankfully I survived, when I was finally back on the beach, exhausted and scared out of my mind I decided that being overweight and out of shape was hazardous to my health. Not to mention seeing the photos of me next to my friends in our bathing suits. YUK! So health and appearance rule.
Searching the web I found a blog called Canyoustayfordinner and we inspired by her philosophy - walk, walk and walk some more.
I have a weak heart - last EF was around 35-40 (cardiomyopathy) and hypothyroidism and some digestion issues that I'm not sure of the cause YET.
Eating healthy has been my way of life since childhood - thanks Mom. Now is the time to just eat a lot less and to eliminate the processed carbs. Which I did (eliminate the carbs) about 2 weeks ago and lost 7 lbs. I have been tracking my weight loss since June 8, 2012 on FatSecret and have lost a total of 38.5 lbs. in 4.4 months with 57.5 lbs. to go. Currently I'm training for a 5k Turkey Trot in November. Gratefully we have a forest preserve multiuse track across the street from my office and I have 2 breaks at work which I usually walk 1 mile each break. I have a park district membership that includes 2 gyms, 3 pools and a lake with paddle boats.
Primal is easy for me to understand and do. I just have to learn the fine details. I am curious about supplements and would like to learn if I could heal my 60 year old thyroid.
I love reading positive posts and interacting with other happy folks trying to improve their health and fit into a tiny swimsuit! Cheers
