I agree with you, Sir Grandma. Something about the portrayal of first ladies, both Republican and Democrat, has always struck me as odd; maybe it is the weird juxtaposition of social advice and homemade cookies.
Personally, I just want to see what happens with a first gentleman.

And don't forget the Whigs and the Federalists, and the name of the party we know as the Democrats today was originally the Democratic-Republicans. The Republican Party of today was founded in 1854.
