Well, you are not an idiot.
can this other semi-naked woman join the couch? it's so fracking hot here, i had to take a cold shower. i don't want to put clothes on, but i guess i should before the kids come back in. anyway...
sorry booter. unemployment really sucks. there's no way around it. what also sucks is that sometimes you have an awesome day with the family, and you feel like you're not allowed to enjoy it because you're unemployed.
Cori- that road sounds like a "highway" we took in an RV driving south to arizona through colorado. "let's take the direct route" in april, in an RV, driven by a guy who's used to flat, endless roads and is married to a neurotic backseat driver.
I'm just picking up Canio's thread.
You got that unemployment thing right Saoirse!
I'm in that boat since January.
It gives you some time to think about what you really want though...
Just thought I would tell you that that shivery little being-peeked-upon-feeling was just me. So - hello. I'm still learning who the stalwarts of the MDA are, and I figure you qualify. :)

Hi Crabbcakes! If by stalwarts you mean, "dudes who never shut up" then yes I qualify :)
Honestly most of my posts are socializing, talking smack, and flirting with women out of my league (pretty much any that can read). That said, welcome! It's nice to have you. I apologize in advance for my language :D
When it comes to people I actually talk to they are either my age intellectually or idiots I don't talk to. I'm kind of a prick that way.
That's the only way to be a prick.
...okay, it's the second way to be a prick, but I'm goin' for PG here.

Thanks, but don't worry - Dad was a Jersey boy turned Army sargeant, and his mom (Grandma) could best him on any day of the week whilst battling the flu. (That is a comment on the strength of Grandma, not on the weakness of Dad.) I, however, have lived out of the country too long, went tv-free after 9-11, and then moved amongst the Amish, so I am not really up on the latest turns of phrase - just so you know if I sheepishly ask for clarification every now and then.
Re the lottery thing... kids and I did a lottery study a while back. You know, just to disabuse them of the notion that all it takes to get lottery-rich is to buy a single ticket (they were young and noticed the MegaMillions billboards on the highway). Several weeks, and zero winnings later, they got the idea of what the phrase "long odds" meant.
Yeah, around these parts, a feature-loaded BIG truck is #1 on every man's list. I, personally, want something different: a VW Thing. I like ugly cars.

Ask for clarification whenever you like. Lord knows things get discussed around here that I have to ask questions about. Out of the country, no tv, and then the Amish...now, this sounds like a story worth reading. *pulls up a chair* ;)
As for the lottery, I get the odds. 28 gazillion: 1 or some such. To me it is, "what is the price of hope?" I can toss a buck or three towards the winds of chance to keep hope alive. As I do it less than 10 times a year I do not stress it to much.
Big trucks seem to be popular. I would lean more towards a Jeep as they are just sexy. We had a VW Thing come through the gate today. It was cool looking.
They makes my hart go all aflutter....
Either stock like above, or modded for fun like this...
They are like the Jeep Wrangler of air-cooled Volkswagens. <3 <3 <3
My friend (who had/has a 77' Westfalia camper bus) really wanted a Thing, but they are hard to find in general, especially in decent shape in this part of the country.
