Well, we are 2 days into the Carb Nite and well, it's going just fine. Yesterday we went to a friend's house and I could kick myself for not being better prepared. I was starving half the day. I ate high protein/fat for breakfast and that was it all day. We thought we were having lunch at a friend's house and it turned out to be dinner instead and I went all day without eating, then she finally put some cheese out and I ate way too much of it, then ate dinner late, just some chicken and veggies. By the time we came home I fried up some leftover london broil in butter and a salad because there wasn't enough to satiate me at the house we visited, one small thigh LOL. I hate when stuff like that happens...oh well, it's funny now.
Today has been easy peasy at keeping carbs under 30. Did some gardening today and cleaned the house, the kids spent a lot of time outside with the beautiful weather we have been having. 8 more days will go just as easily I am sure, since this is the part that I know best. The carb refeed will be the thing that may throw me off mentally LOL. I haven't weighed myself yet, I will do it on the 10th day morning. I am trying to resist.
Carb Nite is fantastic!! So stoked things are moving. I am still on orientation week and Day 6 actually. Yesterday I hit the wall with ULC. Keeping carbs under 30g isn't tough to figure out, thanks to primal. Energy wise it has been tough. Today is a training day. I am down 4lbs so far WOOHOO!! The scale is FINALLY FRIGGIN MOVING AGAIN. Gosh I hate stalls, especially one that has taken a year. I am going to do training today rest tomorrow then training Saturday, HIIT Sunday, Training Monday and Monday is my Carb Nite. I have a good plan of some insulin raising foods.
Pretty much keeping my macros at 1:1 ratio fat to protein and keeping the digestible carbs under 30 and that is working. If at some point I stop losing fat then I will go .5:1 fat to protein. I am so excited about this whole protocol. There have been so me awesome women over on the boards there who have been a tremendous help in transitioning. There are a lot of paleo people there. I think I am one of the only ones who has quite a bit of weight to lose but they all feel confident that it will melt away. I have a good weight training schedule set in motion, which I didn't really have before. That makes me feel confident too, that I am just not flying by the seat of my pants.
8lbs down on Carb Nite!! My next Carb Nite will be a clean carb nite...going to start out with sweet potatoes or sushi and then have a dessert.
Currently listening to Robb Wolf podcast with John Kiefer the Carb Nite author. Heard he was going to be speaking at Paleo FX this year.
9lbs down on Carb Nite and I am absolutely loving it!! Getting strong and losing inches. Almost 3 inches gone in my waist. I am averaging about 2400 calories a day (that's with my carb nites in there) So I would say on average I am eating around 2200-2300 and Carb nite itself I am hitting about 3-4000 cals. The key for me has been the fat to protein, keeping it 1:1. 1g of fat to 1g of protein and trying to top my protein at my goal weight or around there. I love my ultra low carb days and love the cheat night once a week, it's all around working to spike the insulin and keep it from tapping out at the bottom and I am losing fat without sacrificing muscle!! I am going to get to my goal weight for sure!!
