I hadn't really thought about it lately, but my skin tags have disappeared in the last year. In general, my skin just looks so much more vibrant.
DH is probably only about 60-70% primal, but the skin on his back has gotten so much smoother. The little tiny bumps (maybe keratosis pilaris) are mostly gone.
While I lost only half a pound in the last week (week 4), I think there is some body recomposition going on. All of a sudden I notice my collarbones more. They feel... closer to the surface. Kind of a weird place to lose body fat, isn't it?
Speaking of weird places to lose body fat, I am hoping that my fatty thyroid will thin out. There's nothing wrong with the thyroid itself - there has just always been fatty tissue surrounding it. Never quite figured out why. Also have a bit of what is elegantly referred to as a "Dowager's hump". Hoping that losing weight will cause these areas to slim down as well.
Weird bonuses, let's see..
- Waking up and being wide awake;
- No big energy dips in the afternoon;
- The hair! My mane is even more magnificent; and
- Skin - no more horrible sugar-induced breakouts.
Honestly, I can't really think of downsides to this WOE. Just incredibly satisfying and makes a lot of sense. Here's to those weird little bonuses, as well as the big ones (weight loss, vitality, health).
This thread rocks. Makes me feel 200% better every time I wander in.
- getting to eat bacon without guilt
- my nails are like weapons now...they grow long and hard and fast
- no more dandruff
- great night's sleep every night
- waking up without a coating on my tongue
- no more ear wax....... ?
This morning I noticed that my "hubby"'s rosacea has basically gone (just the odd vein near the nose, like pretty much everyone has) and both our acne is dramatically reduced. I still have some, but had more to begin with. He just gets the odd spot.
Pretty skin makes for pretty faces. :)
Okay, I have some weird ones - now I can hear my pulse in my left ear when I lay down to sleep - whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...
I am freaking cold all the time - I sleep with a comforter doubled on me over a sheet and blanket. I used to kick all the covers off because I was too hot!
Like eveyone else, no heartburn - zip, nada, zilch, and I used to have it almost daily before.
Plus, fatty foods just taste better!!!
Skin tags are a common sign of insulin resistance...

Really? Wow. What's the mechanism there?
I started this because I couldn't eat (or not eat) without getting sick. Now I can:
*wake up in the morning!
*forget to take Advil for three weeks straight
*still think through work late in the day
*skip a meal
*watch others eat chocolate walnut cake without any need to have a bite
*AND I FOUND OUT TONIGHT I HAVE LOST 7 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I am hypothyroid and starvation was the only previous choice for weight loss)
