Morning. I live in an area rich in yellow and paper birch so chaga is easy enough to find. Q. Instead of digging it completely out of the tree and drying the brownish inner part, can the charred looking black part on the outside be simply broken of, mortared to powder and used as an infusion? Or are the desired anti-oxidants and such contained in the softer inner tissue?
