  • I need names.

I want to share the gospel of Primal with others, of course. But these others are skeptical folks who laugh at information from anyone who is not a scientist or medical doctor. And if they don't see the information in the form of a double-blind, peer-reviewed study, they dismiss it as anecdotal and therefore garbage.

So what names, what studies, what links, what resources can I offer such folks?

have you read mark's book yet? he backs up all of his information with undeniable common sense and tons of studies, such as the nurses study.

that said, if people are skeptical, you're going to have a tough time convincing them that this is better than the eat-whole-wheat-and-bran-skip-the-yolks-and-red-meat stuff they've been listening to for decades. for me, i learned that the case against fat started when doctors were noticing health risks associated with diets high in red meat...and didn't take into account the potatoes, bread and sugary drinks...and realized that the knowledge that CW is based on was coming from really poorly executed studies. then the common sense of our evolution (as explained by mark) made me start seeing things differently, then the studies helped.
so, i guess my point is that having studies to show people is good, but they will continue to be skeptical in the face of science until they realize that something they've spent their life believing may, in fact, be untrue. they may always be skeptical, and that's ok. your change and your health will be the best proof for them.

I am so used these days to reading stuff on the Internet that I forget things like books. Note to self: Amazon.com.

Yeah, I know I'll have a tough time telling people about what I'm doing. I am hoping that, when I see family for a week of Christmas vacation, I will--in some fashion--look or act enough different from my usual self that people will ask what I've been up to. Then I can start with something fairly innocuous, such as the phrase "more good fats."

I'd love to really pique my mother's curiosity. At 86, she's still moving along, but her absolute faith in low-fat wisdom and her doctor, and her ingestion of such things as Coumadin and Digoxin, are not (of course) serving her well.

              Ancestral Health Info

I design websites and blogs for a living. If you would like a blog or website designed by someone who understands Primal, see my web page.

Primal Blueprint Explorer My blog for people who are not into the Grok thing. Since starting the blog, I have moved close to being Archevore instead of Primal. But Mark's Daily Apple is still the best source of information about living an ancestral lifestyle.

Dr. Eades is a legitimate doctor. Him and his wife believe in a paleo style diet.
Gary Taubes - he writes a lot of books with tons of scientific evidence supporting that saturated fat is actually good for your heart. He was on the Larry King show debating Dr. Oz on the subject.
Look up the Framingham study. It is one of the largest cholesterol studies ever conducted and it was taken over a period of 4 decades I believe.
Robb Wolf wrote the Paleo Solution. He has a degree in Biochemistry I believe and will give a lot of factual evidence.
Weston A Price Foundation is another great website that debunks conventional wisdom. Mary Enig is a lipid biochemist PHD who has been fighting with congress for years about the government's stance on cholesterol. Sally Fallon is the president of Weston A Price Foundation and she wrote a good book called Nourishing Traditions.

That should help you really get educated on this stuff and you can debate with anyone on the matter of cholesterol.
"If man made it, don't eat it" - Jack Lallane

People say I am on a "crazy" diet. What is so crazy about eating veggies, fruits, seafood and organ meats? Just because I don't eat whole wheat and processed food doesn't make my diet "crazy". Maybe everyone else with a SAD are the "crazy" ones for putting that junk in their system.

Four years Primal with influences from Jaminet & Shanahan and a focus on being anti-inflammatory. Using Primal to treat CVD and prevent stents from blocking free of drugs.

Eat creatures nose-to-tail (animal, fowl, fish, crustacea, molluscs), a large variety of vegetables (raw, cooked and fermented, including safe starches), dairy (cheese & yoghurt), occasional fruit, cocoa, turmeric & red wine

I'd start with Good Calories, Bad Calories. Pretty hard for the science minded to honestly argue against his research.

Beat the CW with that, then you could move more easily in the Primal direction with the others.

Yeah. For some of us, a funny video like that is going to be more persuasive than any preaching or waving around dry research. Good suggestion!
