  • Low fat vs low carb and cholesterol

I know there have been links posted in this forum to studies showing that low carb diets are superior to low fat diets for improving cholesterol.

I can't seem to find them for some reason, can anyone link me to actual studies?

    here's one...

Weight and metabolic outcomes after 2 years on a low-carbohydrate versus low-fat diet: a randomized trial

"Conclusion: Successful weight loss can be achieved with either a low-fat or low-carbohydrate diet when coupled with behavioral treatment. A low-carbohydrate diet is associated with favorable changes in cardiovascular disease risk factors at 2 years."

Here's another one looking at the effects of a low-carb Mediterranean diet on glycemic control and CV risk factors in overweight diabetics

This is a guinea pig study but still has interesting results:

Carbohydrate restriction favorably alters lipoprotein metabolism in Emirati subjects classified with the metabolic syndrome.

A randomized controlled trial on the efficacy of carbohydrate-reduced or fat-reduced diets in patients attending a telemedically guided weight loss program.

Carbohydrate restriction, as a first-line dietary intervention, effectively reduces biomarkers of metabolic syndrome in Emirati adults.

And particularly relevant to this group...
Metabolic and physiologic improvements from consuming a paleolithic, hunter-gatherer type diet.

Sorry, got a little carried away digging around!
