    Blech!

After quitting soda, I can't even bring myself to drink the zero cal stuff. Artificial sweeteners make me feel cruddy too. At the bar I'm more likely to opt for an ultra light beer over a diet soda now. I vote flavored seltzer water- maybe with a bit of stevia/xylitol/erythritol if you need a little sweet.

OR check out Zevia soda. www.zevia.com Natural zero cal soda. It's not bad, but horribly sweet if you're not used to sweet stuff.

I kind of view it like smoking: I know it's bad for me, but I haven't gotten to the point of quiting it yet.

Even at zero calories...it still contains all of the following ingredients. I need to do a little more research to even figure out what the hell some of this stuff is. Needless to say I wouldn't drink it

Blech. Nasty stuff. Even when I ate a conventional diet I thought it was nasty and not worth drinking.

I know it's crap but I can't make myself drink all the sugar that's in regular Coke.

One of the reasons that the sweetened coke in the first place was to cover the salt in it so, people would not be hydrated as well as they would have with plain water and they would drink more of it. The worst thing about diet coke is that it's not water. The only two things that I drink every day are sitting in front of me as I type this. They are green tea and water.

I didn't touch the stuff for the first 3 months of being primal and now if I "want" a sip of my wife's soda it tastes excessively sweet and awful!!

I'll just share my personal experience since I don't really have strong opinions about them either way.

I recently broke my addiction to diet sodas - that was a rough one. The sweetness and the caffeine both got me pretty well hooked on them. I drank nothing but water for almost 3 weeks (no coffee or tea either!), and ever since I got through the nasty headaches and nausea of caffeine withdrawal, I've been loving the freedom.

I am back to coffee or tea, but only once a day. I'm not convinced that fake sweeteners are AWFUL for you, but I'd rather not get hooked on the extreme sweetness of diet soda again -- I think it gives me more carb cravings. Last night I had some diet cranberry juice mixed with club soda (a friend left the juice here) and that was fun, so maybe I'll play around with watered-down diet soda for times when I really want something sweet after dinner.

I'm blogging again, at least a little bit.

Mayness - I like a little lime juice mixed with club soda too. Over ice.

I really missed my diet sodas for a while, but club soda with a splash of something added is a nice substitute if I want something more than water in the evening or I'm missing my Diet Sprite on a really hot day.

It's real easy to order when you're out at bars and restaurants too if you like to feel more festive
