  • This is probably more venting than anything... Today at work we had a meeting during lunchtime "But don't worry, PIZZA will be served!! " Argh. Pizzas, salad (that was more crouton and questionable cheese than veg) and cookies, so... no.

    I politely declined but people still gave me crap bc how dare I turn down FREE pizza. Really, who gives a crap? More for you, right? I mean, I don't care what they eat. The best comment "but it's pizza, you're a New Yorker" (we're a NYC based company). Just because I'm a New Yorker doesn't mean I have to be shaped like a knish!

    I ended up eating my lunch later in the afternoon since people in my office have an annoying habit of sticking their face directly in your food to say "WHAT'S THAT"

      Friend: A carbohydrate.
      Me: What do you mean by "a carbohydrate"?
      Friend: Something made from wheat.
      Me: So what about gluten intolerant people? Can they not eat breakfast foods?
      Friend: They have their own special versions of cereal and bread and stuff.
      Me: Yeah, but those are made from rice.
      Friend: But rice is made of wheat.
      Me: ...
      Me: Rice isn't made of wheat.
      Friend: ...

            It's clearly 50% white, 50% wheat.
            Disclaimer: I eat 'meat and vegetables' ala Primal, although I don't agree with the carb curve. I like Perfect Health Diet and WAPF Lactofermentation a lot.

              • but rice IS white, so white flour is rice, which is made from wheat, but rice is gluten free, so it can't be a grain.

                Anyway, only whole grains are healthy, so make sure you don't eat any broken rices

                • I briefly worked with a girl who would eat a big salad for lunch every day, which consisted of bagged lettuce and half a bottle of cheap ranch dressing. And she wondered why she wasn't losing weight...

                  • Lunch at work - made stew for everyone with potatoes green beans and some beef.
                    Ate about 3 times as much as everyone else and received jelly comments on how I can eat so much and not get fat. Probably because I skipped the bread they had to have with it and didn't eat any of the cake that had a large layer of butter crumbles on top.

                    And then one of our guys who always goes on crash diets told me that salt turns into fat (since I'm the only one who dares to use salt at lunch).
                    What to do: Eat real food, enjoy your food, get out into the sun as often as possible, move around, sleep well and early (like before 11 p.m.), have health as your main goal.

                    You are probably going to fail if you: Restrict carbs or fat or calories, avoid fruit (because sugar derp), punish yourself with diet/exercise, have weight loss as your only goal,....
