  • Me: "Want some cheese? It's delicious." (Dubliner)

Coworker: "Wait, are you just eating a block of cheese as a snack? Isn't--"

Me: "Don't even finish that sentence. It's fine."

      • My brother is insisting that the only way to lose weight is to "not eat enough", and that if he was fat he would "just not eat for two weeks, then eat normally for a day" and repeat this until he was skinny again.
        Um, okay.

I'm living proof this idea is incorrect.
Before I went primal, I lost weight if I ate less than 1500 calories per day.
After going primal, I lost weight eating an average of 1800 calories per day.
Since going primal, I have lost 35 pounds.

I think we can all assume he's never been overweight in his life.

            • While at a local big chain grocery checkout with several packages of sliced pork belly among various fruits & vegetables:

cashier: wow, that's some lovely bacon...wait, that's not bacon...?
<looks at it again, puzzled expression, looks back at me>
              me: it's uncured bacon
cashier: <blank stare... pause>...what do you do with that?
me: fry or roast it up and eat it
cashier: <more blank stare> or maybe wrap it around something?
me: I suppose. It's just too good by itself to bother.
              cashier: <blank stare>
me: <leave store happy with pork belly>

I'm living proof that this doesn't work. When I was in highschool (and clearly having a raging youthful metabolism eyeroll...) my off season meals were oatmeal/nutrigrain bar/skip, strawberries and sun chips, and a small portion of dinner with bread (and sometimes just bread, cause bread is fat free ya know). I gained weight every offseason. Luckily, while I was swimming, I ate fries and a terrifying amount of cheese, huge portions of spaghetti and meat sauce (with moar cheese), and more peanut butter than god. Lost a ton of weight every season.

Still, seems funny, as the burger/nuggets and fries are awful.
I dont get it myself, How can you say these things are awful? I love them, I avoid them but they are of my favorite naughty pleasures.

I tried them, my sister's boyfriend gave me some. I don't know if we just had a bad batch or what, but there was something WRONG with them. They tasted normal at first but then a horrible aftertaste creeped up on you. It was kind of funny... he gave me some to see if I'd have the same reaction. Then we tried them on my sister and she was like, "I don't know what you two... ew... what IS that?" Yeah, not good.

And the apple slices are peeled! 😞

If the kid is young enough to still need the peel off due to a choking hazard (as opposed to preference), they shouldn't be familiar enough with McDonalds yet to ask for it... Therefore, IMO, there is no reason they should be eating there. It's almost as easy to stop off at a grocery store!

And had to laugh. I've been telling people that for two years now! I also have to wonder if the paragraph about sitting linking to increased blood sugar isn't really just the processed crap that SAD eats while sitting and watching television!

Yep; he stays skinny even though his main source of food is cake (which is apparently perfectly "okay and healthy" because he "isn't fat").
