A few years ago I used to stop at the convenient store and get a 20oz coffee and pput about that much sugar and cream in, what a way to start my day, until I crashed around noon. Before primal I was a breakfast coffee drinker, but now I haven't had caffiene at all.

    • Not so much a "moment" as something I do for fun.

Eating "CW bad" foods in front of the skinny-fat or plain-fat girls in the uni cafe, as they eat their "oh so healthy" 70% bread sandwiches. The looks of confusion, disgust and the odd bit of jealousy! Makes up for the mild awkwardness when I first start. *pure evil* I especially find funny how those REALLY thin ones look at me like I'm ill and "fat" (small UK 12), when their thighs are as thin as my lower arms and some STILL have more fat than I have, whilst the bulk of my "fat" legs is solid muscle.

Drinking 300ml of double cream straight was my fav. May try eating butter next time... Or eating raw skirt steak out the bag (butcher, no "packets").

Perfection is entirely individual. Any philosophy or pursuit that encourages individuality has merit in that it frees people. Any that encourages shackles only has merit in that it shows you how wrong and desperate the human mind can get in its pursuit of truth.

      • I'm currently super pregnant, like few weeks left pregnant. And I've gained about 9-10 pounds the past 3-4 weeks, which is kind of a lot, but I'm at the end of my pregnancy and the baby needs to put on his fat too. My doc goes on to explain that I'm drinking TOO MUCH water (100oz a day) and its bad for the baby. My blood pressure isn't high and I have minimal swelling so I'm not having a problem with water retention anyways. I just couldn't believe it.

          • Today, in Trader Joe's, we were in the frozen section when we passed a pair of women (both rather fat), who were discussing how one of them had recently switched to vegan eating. "There is so much fat in fish and meat!"

Under my breath, I'm muttering "because that's what your brain and hormones need, dork!"

              yeah you are

Baby if you time travel back far enough you can avoid that work because the dust won't be there. You're too pretty to be working that hard.

The Boyfriend just taught his grandaughter the word "doofus", which is somehow hilarious coming out of the mouth of a normally shy 6-year-old.

Who knows, though, maybe one or two of them will finally try and discover my "secret" and have their mind opened to a Primal lifestyle? Gotta be cruel to be kind.

                  • Giggles aside, you really can't blame people for following conventional wisdom.

                    Vegans don't follow CW.

                    Pedophiles don't follow CW either.

Yeah, I just put those two together. Meh.

Fact is, we're the freaks, the misfit mutants surrounded by readily-available (and free) information about the evils of fat, the benefits of whole-grains etc. From an evolutionary point of view we're the weirdos with a short-life expectancy or we're trail-blazing a 'new' path.

For the majority of the people, for most of the time, the CW is the correct path. Deviating from it can mean serious injury or death, imprisonment, debt or poverty and so on.

Heck, most of US were following it too!

So we can be smug or we can try and make a difference, right? So why not combine play with preaching, such as eating high-fat goodness in front of them -and then using it as an opportunity to explain why?

Most will resist but at least you've planted a seed of doubt. It all helps

I can honestly say that, even as a 47-year-old woman, I have never in my life been on a lowfat diet. Primal is only the 2nd change to my eating I've ever made, following after a year of Atkins. Nothing else seemed to make sense, and while Atkins made sense over CW, Primal made a lot more sense over either one.

You would be in a minority, though.

                            • This my favorite thread, because everyone post takes me right back to my office environment.

Things my cowrkers have said: One lady goes to Walmart every morning for her package of chips ahoy and Doritos. She has been raving about her weight loss, from cutting pop out and switching to water. Except for today when she came back with a Coke with her wings. She keeps telling me she eats oatmeal because she has highblood pressure. This morning she actually quoted the calories and serving size of her Doritos. I asked her if she was going to stop after the recommended serving...she told me "probably not".
ANother coworker, who has had the stomach staple surgery, told me today when I was telling her about using cauliflower in place of rice, that she tries not to eat the chicken skin from a rotis chicken, because "it's supposed to be bad for you"

Tonight at Chipotle, the guy in front of me made me smile...not for a good reason.
He was ordering his and friends food, burrito.
Guy"and the other burrito has no rice or beans and double meat, he's weird."
My turn, got a bowl, no rice, no beans, double chicken, I love being weird, VFF's and all.

                              • Was at my fav Indian restaurant here in Edmonton, all organic veg, chicken and lamb. They usually 7 vegan dishes and 3 meat dishes all very tasty. Was helping myself to Marsala mushroom and amazing squash curry, as I was moving onto the lamb and the chicken the lady behind me said "oh a tofu curry that is healthy"
                                face/palm.
Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.
