I love how they had to test and test before they came up with something that really tasted like bacon. Wonder what the ingredients are? the add gets my gutter-brain working about what the lube was spread on, how well it goes with 'fish'... :-0

After all that saturated fat, I can't imagine our sex drives are humming at a break neck pace. All of us probably have a little kinky in us.

Edit: on second thought, why aren't we just using bacon grease?

Sad world, when two staples of your current life are crossed out...good thing we know better!

on second thought, why aren't we just using bacon grease?
That was one of my first thoughts!

                • Okay, so my CW moment for the day, which left me with a severely bruised forehead from facepalming:

I called my mom today, which is something I usually do at least a couple of times a week. Somehow the topic of food came around and I mentioned how Nutrasweet was possibly coming out under another name, and that it still didn't make it good for you. My mom replied with "Well I only use Splenda!"

                  Um... yea?

I was speechless for a moment, which is incredibly rare for me, and then I mentioned the local farm that was raided for (gasp!) cooking dinner for some people and daring to use food they didn't buy from a warehouse across the country. She was horrified, so I figure we're back on the same page. Until...

Me: Anyway, I'm going to send you an interesting book that you might like too, but I'm not going to nag you about food.
Mom: That sounds good. But if you want to teach someone about food, you should talk to your brother.
                  Me: Why? What's he eating?
Mom: He eats SO much meat now! It's just terrible!

                  More stunned silence from me.

Me: I really think I'm probably the last person to tell him to stop. If he's eating meat and good fat and veggies, then he's doing fine.
Mom: But it can't be good for you!
Me: Look how much healthier I am, and that's how I eat.
Mom: But they just don't know the long term effects of eating meat and fat like that!

Yeah, because thousands of years isn't long enough to prove it's good. And eating low fat and heavy on the grains for the past 50 years of her life has proven... what? Let's see - gall bladder removal, breast cancer, skin cancer, arthritis, peripheral neuropathy, spinal surgeries, intestinal problems and now the inability to eat more than a tiny bit of food at a time.

Gee, as tempting as that may sound...
                  Durp.

                    The Big Fat Truth

                    "The Good: Unsaturated Fat

                    Monounsaturated Fats
What they do: These fats, known as MUFAs, raise good HDL cholesterol, lower bad LDL cholesterol, and protect against the buildup of plaque in your arteries. They also help prevent belly fat, according to research.
Where you'll find them: In olive oil and olives, canola oil, almonds, cashews, peanuts, peanut butter, sesame seeds, and avocados.
How much you need: Most of the fat you eat should be unsaturated, like MUFAs. "Just two to three tablespoons of olive oil a day can raise HDL levels and protect against heart disease," says Dr. Roberts.

                    Polyunsaturated Fats
What they do: In addition to lowering your LDL, these fats contain essential omega-3 fatty acids -- which boost brain function and may help strengthen your immune system and improve your mood -- and omega-6 fatty acids, which in small amounts can keep skin and eyes healthy.
Where you'll find them: Omega-3s are primarily in fish like salmon, mackerel, and herring, as well as canola oil, flaxseed, walnuts, and tofu. Omega-6s are in corn and safflower oil, corn-fed chicken and beef, and farmed fish.
How much you need: Most of the polys you eat should be omega-3s. Too much omega-6 can lead to inflammation, which is linked to heart disease. Trade vegetable oil for olive and canola oils, and eat grass-fed beef and wild-caught fish.

                    The Bad: Saturated Fats

What they do: They raise cholesterol levels and increase your risk of heart disease.
Where you'll find them: In meat and poultry, in dairy products like cream, butter, and whole and 2 percent milk, and in some plant foods like coconut and palm oil.
How much you need: Limit saturated fat to less than 10 percent of your total daily calories. One easy way to cut back: "Remove any hard fat you can see, such as the skin on chicken," says Christine Gerbstadt, MD, RD, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association.

                    The Ugly: Trans Fats

What they do: Made from unsaturated fat that's been chemically altered to prolong the shelf life of packaged foods, trans fats raise bad LDL and lower good HDL, increasing inflammation throughout the body. "They 100 percent promote heart disease," says Dr. Gerbstadt.
Where you'll find them: In shortening, margarine, doughnuts, french fries, and processed foods such as crackers, cookies, chips, and cakes.
How much you need: Zero. But know this: The FDA allows food manufacturers to claim that a product contains "zero trans fats" if one serving of it has 0.5 grams of trans fats or less. "That means if you eat more than one serving, you could be getting a gram or more," warns Dr. Gerbstadt. Before buying foods, check the ingredient labels for "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil" -- trans fats' sneaky pseudonym. "

At least they got "the Ugly" right! xD

                    • Major funny CW today. A friend to today went to the movies last night/this morning. She comes into school with the biggest big gulp I've ever seen. Saying that she doesn't feel tiered yet from staying up, so she's trying to "beat the slump." This afternoon, we're sitting next to each other in class. Teacher tells a joke, which was hilarious, and she just gives this blank stare. The following conversation ensues:
Me: oh c'mon, that was funny!
Her: no, its not that. I just don't feel really well. I keep blacking out and stuff.
Me: well, its probably because you stayed up so late and...
Her: no, I just don't feel well
Me: or maybe all that sugar you had this morning...
Her: no, ugh, I just don't feel well at all!
Me: aww, thats too bad (I gave up at this point)

Why can't people see that stuff like staying up all night and drinking mass amounts of sugar makes you sick!

                      • Coworkers wanted me to go with them to lunch again (another friggin pizza joint). I said ok knowing they had a sara salad (lettuce, tomato, onion, black olives, ham, jalepeno and a smattering of cheese). Its a good salad even if its skimpy. Everything else on the menu.. ugh.. a no brainer. I went to be sociable. I had my salad and water and came back to eat my pork chop and apple. Life is good, I feel great and again, its more than I can say for my wheat loving co-workers as they are bloated again.

Don't worry they just say they ate too much food (which is not really unreasonable since it's true!) My favorite CW quote is "everything in moderation." Wrong! Everything is everything, and such includes opium, crack, marijuana and other such drugs. Sorry, doctors don't recommend any of that stuff, unless you live in California.

I do, as a matter of fact, and I know many, many people here (including family members) with medical marijuana cards for conditions like anxiety, chronic pain, and to counteract the effects of cancer treatment. Fear of marijuana is largely the result of CW propaganda, just like--oh hey--much of the stuff we rant about here.

Fact: it is medically impossible to overdose from marijuana, yet alcohol poisoning kills people every year.

                            • marijuana makes me sicker than any amount of alcohol I've ever drank... so I don't know about that. The couple of times I've tried it, I swear I felt like I was going to die.
