I know right?! I specifically looked for diets that had bacon in them. Just so I could eat saturated fat. I knew it wasn't bad for me (thanks tom naughton)

In the age of Google there isn't much excuse for being ignorant. Even by CW, dairy is a huge culprit in sinus/ear problems. It's all over Google.
Some friends of mine just had a baby back in January. It is SO HARD to keep my damn mouth shut about - well, everything. "Little one just ate her first cereal!" on FB - nooooo. I can't say anything, since, y'know, Other Peoples' Kids. And now she and another friend who are both extremely overweight/obese are starting a weight loss diet, and talking about counting calories and using the blue plate trick, and oh, man. I still can't say anything, though, because although I've been overweight in my life (and spent four hellish years in elementary school as the Fat Kid), neither of them have seen me heavy, and I don't want to be that person.

      • Another funny thing worth bumping.

Coworker just complained he doesn't like to cook food. If he can eat it raw, he does. This goes for canned foods and other terrible disgusting things.

        Why?

        WHY?

          • Over heard at grocery store. One overweight women to the other. The were both very excited to see each other! "There she is my weight watchers lifer partner" the other says "I know we have both been in weight watchers for over 20 years!"

It is strange to hear that but it was not that long ago that I was stuck as well. My heart goes out them. I wish I could help but alas I know that I can not.

Yes, he's worried about the saturated fat content of a CAKE, which is made almost entirely of white flour and sugar. Sigh.

Same here. I was the milk-kid. Could easily down a litre a day. Did it well into my late teens. I still crave cheese, but I only have it 2-3 days weekly. I'm thinking its the next thing to eliminate if my weight-loss stalls, I really seem to be addicted to the stuff.

As a kid I had more ear-infections and courses of penicilin than I care to remember! My own kids started having them too, but after 2 bouts of ear infections by the age of 18 months, the chiro adjusted their necks and they have been fine ever since. If they get it again I will def stop the dairy tos ee if it helps.

                • A friend feeds her 4 y.o son small Mars Bars every day as a mid-morning snack. I have no idea what he gets for other meals, but I'm sure it wouldn't be considered primal fare! The poor kid is the whiniest kid with the worst mood-swings. Reminds me of myself when I was in the firm grip of sugar-addiction just 6 months ago. Poor child.

                    • I was in line at the grocery store and on display at the checkout was the diabetes prevention guide that has a HUGE ass cupcake on it with frosting and fruit in the background on the cover. i was going to pick it up to look inside to read what it had to say but I didn't want to waste my time. apparently eating cupcakes prevents diabetes. who knew?

I'm too stubborn to give up so I keep on trying.

                      • Today we did the Costco thing and there was a guy handing out Fage yogurt samples. I make my own full-fat, awesome Greek yogurt but figured I'd give it a try out of curiosity. Just as I reached for one he proudly announced "And it's totally fat free!" OK, never mind then - put it back on the tray. The look he gave me was one of complete bafflement. I forget that so many people are still completely clueless - sheese.

I went to Costco hoping they had full fat Fage in bulk. I eat enough of it for breakfast that it seemed a sensible idea. Nope. Just 2% at best. QQ.

                          • Spoke to my friend today. Told her how much I've lost, and she tells me her cousin is also doing a "paleo diet" (note that this is a lifestyle for me, not a diet!!!). I asked her what the cousin does seeing she is primal too. "she eats every 3 hours, stuff like a can of tuna or 1 boiled egg". Hmmmm, that's not paleo, that's starving yourself. Best part? "she does it under guidance from her PT". Oh. Right. So it must be healthy then.
