      • I can't STAND my co-workers. They are so ignorant about nutrition and health and yet they spout off. But, I'm still the only fat one, so I don't say anything because I know it would look crazy for the fat girl to talk the opposite of CW about nutrition. I suppose they have the benefit of never having gotten fat in the first place and having a hormonal problem.

For example, today someone said that bikram yoga is good for weight loss because it makes you sweat a lot. wth??? And there are too many people crash dieting and stopping, happy that they lost 6 pounds in one week. That just sounds incredibly unhealthy.

        • Oh man, the yogurt thing. Greek yogurt seems to be the new in thing in my area, but the brand nearly every store carries is Chobani, which seems to only exist in low-fat and fat-free versions. Fat-free greek yogurt! Boggles the mind. Thank Grok for the Trader Joe's down the street, which has the real stuff. Which reminds me, I need to go stock up.

Oh, how I feel your pain. One of my main motivations for weight loss is so that my loved ones will ask me what I'm doing, or believe me when I say it.

I wonder if he was interpreting your statement as "No -- potatoes, please." As in, you were requesting potatoes instead, and so he was trying to divine which kind you meant. (Of course he was still hearing you wrong, but that's my bet!)

              • Oh and I had this conversation recently. I'm pretty sure even some CW people would spot the trouble, though.

My friend: "And I'll have a diet soda."
                (Waitress leaves)
Me: "Soda with breakfast? Wow, you really do love soda."
Friend: "Oh, well you know, it's diet, so it's healthy. All I ever drink is diet soda, I even use it to swallow my pills."
Me: "Wait, so you're saying that's literally all you drink? No water, even?"
Friend: "Nope! I haven't had any water in oh... hmm... probably two or three years now!"
                Me: "..."

She looked so proud of herself. I tried commenting that I bet at least some water might give her kidneys an easier life, but no luck there.

                • Overheard in a weightloss forum:
"I'm a total bread/carboholic....I have to eat 6 times a day or I get hungry"

                  Y'think?

                  • Back when Atkins was hugely popular, overheard this in the store "ooo, this marshmallow creme only has 5grams of carbs!" I went and looked. Um, yes, it had like 4.5grams of sugar, and 0.5grams of egg and chemicals.....in a 5g serving. I mean, I know some people are all about willpower, but eating only 5g of marshmallow creme?

                    • Once I watched someone eat two cheeseburgers (w/buns) and two orders of fries and a glazed donut... and claim it was "ok" because she was going to work it off at a 25 minute Crossfit class later.

I thought CrossFit was only supposed to take like 15mins?

I just threw a number out there. I knew it's short but I've never done it before.

                          • lol I thought you were quoting her exactly and she was going to try to compensate for all those carbs with an "extra long" workout. When she'd eaten enough carbs to fuel a 10k.

(also, 18lbs in less than a month? Grok on, you healthier hottie you!)

                            • Unfortunately a good friend of mine has become a bodybuilder and lives by the whole "6 small meals of tuna or chicken and spinach" every day. He has oatmeal with egg whites for breakfast. He can't believe that I eat only twice a day, especially when he has to stop at the store for protein bars to keep himself going. Of course he advises me that I'm slowing my metabolism by eating so rarely.

He looks good for a bodybuilder, at least.
You lousy kids! Get off my savannah!

                                Thanks, Sapphire!

Her quote didn't include a time... I just didn't know all Crossfit was the same and wanted to make sure everyone knew she wasn't going to be working that off Watching the "scarf" was a sight to see though!
