  • In the store today out of curiosity I picked up Stonyfield drinkable yogurt I used to get for the toddlers... I always picked it because I knew it was organic and I though generally better for you. News flash for me, one container has 24 g of sugar. Funny, before primal I always looked at nutrition labels and took into account calories, fat, and fiber...never once looked at sugar content. Thank God I have found this way of life while I am still in my 20s.

    • Oh, decided to pop over and read the forums and articles again in the hopes they changed, but sparkpeople.com is still basically one giant funny CW moment for the most part.

      • so before I found primal, I was trying to lose weight with CW and was using sparkpeople.com. Now, when I get emails from them, I still go on for some comic relief.

Try Planned Parenthood--in my state the Family Planning Expansion Project helps cover reproductive supplies and devices for women who do not have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover contraception =). Three cheers for PPH!

            • I went out for lunch with a friend today and ordered "burnt ends" which are like nuggets of meat off a brisket. They were lovely but they had a bit of fat on and she couldn't believe I was eating all that fat...

              • I had lunch today with a very overweight friend that I dearly love. She had the double cheeseburger and fries (loads of ketchup) and I remarked that my son loves their bacon double cheeseburger.

"Oh, no. No bacon for me. The fat goes straight to my thighs."

Oh man *drool* I just love burnt ends!

There's a place here between the town where I live and the one where I work called Serious Texas Barbecue that sells brisket, pulled pork, turkey breast, sausage and roast pork by the pound, half pound, quarter pound... at very reasonable prices. I always get the turkey (tre yummm), but my son orders brisket and always asks for the burnt ends and gives them to me -- what a sweetie!
                  Started 7/5/11 at 274 lbs
                  Now 214 -- that's 60 lbs!
Goal 160 lbs -- last time there was in junior high!

I'd never encountered it before today as I've just moved to Canada in the last fortnight. It's going to be a staple on my going out menu from now on. So good!

I've been in Canada my whole life and I've never heard of it. Must be a prairie food.
In all of the universe there is only one person with your exact charateristics. Just like there is only one person with everybody else's characteristics. Effectively, your uniqueness makes you pretty average.

Nope, I've lived in prairie provinces for most of my life (except for a bit of time in BC in my early 20s). I've only ever seen it in the American-style BBQ place here in town. Maybe you'd find it more in Ontario? No clue.

                              • Yeah, it's a little ridiculous. Even before primal I thought that was way too much sugar. We usually buy frozen strawberries and let them thaw (frozen have the perfect texture for yogurt when thawed) and then pop them in the food processor. Mix that with a tub of whole plain yogurt and a few drops of stevia - perfect! Or if I'm feeling lazy, I buy a couple Stonyfield strawberry yogurts and add them to the tub of plain.

But yeah, I'm generally appalled at the ingredients and sugar content in "toddler foods."

Edit - that was supposed to quote the post about Stonyfield yogurt above. I don't know what happened.
