Before and after pics

    Be proud of that bump! It shows you are getting more core muscles, not to mention the "cushion" women are supposed to have in that area, so to speak. I think it looked good. You are putting weight back on in the best possible way. I know you don't see it like we do, but trust me, there are plenty of people looking at your pictures wishing one of two things - either they could look more like you, or look more at you.... if you get my drift.
    Give it a few more weeks and you'll be ready to kick some serious beach body butt. Congrats on your progress. I hope you keep us updated on more of the same!

      thank you SO MUCH- i now i dont see myself like others do at al which is what makes the whole gaining so frikn hard. i am hoping with time and good nutrition my mind will start to see my like others do and i can appreciate what i see in the mirror one day.
      truly, my biggest motivation is my HUGE desire to have children one day so i axiously await the return of my period

      • cheapo, I almost don't want to post this after seeing your pics! You look like you could snap me in half. Nice work there.

        Here's mine. First is the end of 2009, second is today, so basically 4 months. I quit drinking as of New Year's Day, and was on more of a conventional nutrition program for the first month or so, and following the PB pretty much 95% for the last 3. I wasn't good about before and after measurements, but I'm down 28 pounds and I definitely have to buy some new jeans. I've had to pack away LOTS of clothes lately.

        Started 5'10" 201 lbs, currently 173 lbs. Thinking I'll keep going like this until I'm 165, then shift my focus to strength a bit more and muscle up a little.

        Excuse the crappy pictures. And yeah, I'm flexing a bit in the second, it's kind of hard not to when I can actually see a bit of abs now. heh

          • Bane, fantastic work! You look amazing! Cheapo does look like he could snap telephone poles like pencils, but bear in mind he's showing two and a half years of progress while you're showing four months.

            Man, look at all those milestones. Bicep definition. Clavicle definition. Second chin gone. Pooch and insulin handles banished! You look like you've turned into your own kick-ass younger brother. If that's four months... what the heck is eight or twelve months going to look like!

            • Bane- I would not even recognize your two pictures as the same person. Good job!

              And, overall, I just luuuuv the before and after pics. I took my 'before' pic yesterday morning (3 weeks into PB, but better late than never). Anxious for the "after" pic.

                Now I really wish I didn't sit on my ass and just eat good food, but started to lift heavy things at the same time as I started low carbing.
                Sometimes you need to be told the truth in order to be able to see it.

                    • Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the comments. Talk about a good motivator to get my butt out the door in the rain this morning for my daily hike. I couldn't exactly read them and then brush off the walk. Though I hope the swelling head doesn't throw my weight loss stats off too much.

                      I'm really glad I have that old picture to look at. I showed this to my wife last night and she stared at it for a long time kind of shaking her head. I think the reaction was the same for both of us: was I really that effin' fat before?!

                      I hope I can post significant changes again at 8 and 12 months. One thing I have been slacking on is the workouts; I'm pretty much just doing pushups and pullups a couple times a week and going on daily walks, with a couple of those a week being in the hills and for over an hour. I guess it's good that I still have another round in the barrel, so to speak, that I can fire off.

                      Although I guess in a way that speaks to how great the PB is... fairly easy daily walks, 20 minutes a couple times a week with a $20 pullup bar, eating tons of bacon, eggs and steak, and losing 30-ish pounds in 4 months. I kind of thought the claims here were bulls**t to be honest, but it was nice to be proven wrong!

                      I'll circle my calendar and post more pics in another 4 months.

                        Haha! That is the truth. I felt the same. But after all, it makes sense. If the path to fitness were to work out like a slave, and suffer like a medieval prisoner by eating a low-fat, semi-vegetarian diet, half of America would be in olympic shape. On the other hand, when you simply match your environment to that of Grok, the results happen by themselves. The hardest part sometimes is learning to chill out, ignore the scale and take the long view.

                            Well done Bane! What are you doing for your exercise, lifting heavy things and sprinting? Nice progress on the mid-section.
