• Well, it's been a crazy two months for my family. We're in the process of moving, and everything that goes along with it (contract/price negotiations, inspections, repairs, timelines, financing, appraisals, meeting with banks/mortgage/inspectors/etc). My diet has been pretty good through all of this, but especially good the last week, and, as expected, I can tell a difference. Sleep is lacking a bit, and stress is DEFINITELY up, but all in all, I'm doing pretty well. I wonder how big a mess I'd be if I weren't primal. (Don't really want to know..)

Anyway, I had some time to snap a few pictures this morning. The scale said 211.6 this morning, so that is as low as I've been since high school playing days.

I'm going to finally reveal my face, because I think the differences there are the most telling.

My start...December 2011. 251 pounds, more body fat than a grain fed pig, and incredibly unhappy...a forced smile:

    Side shot...

    April

    Today:

In jeans that were tight in December:

The belly isn't flat yet...I'm actually amazed that at 211 pounds, I'm not rail thin. That's the thinking that goes on in your head as you weight creeps up over the years. "Oh, if I could just lose 30 pounds, I'll be on the cover of Men's Health!"

    False.

There's a lot more work to be done.

Sorry for such a big picture...don't know how to downsize other than in photobucket, which I did.

I'll always have a huge head...I guess one drawback to being skinny(ier) is I'll look more like a toddler with the head/body proportion.

    Oh well, I'll take it!

Nice work to both you and Unique. I know what you mean about not being rail thin. Same thinking here at 212 down from last July's 290ish.

You're bang on about mens health. If they had you on the cover pushing a lifestyle that reduces your BF and increased muscle mass and actually works they'd never sell another copy.

Having said that I'd probably still buy it - it'd be the first edition I'd agree with more than maybe 2 things in the entire magazine (I buy it mainly because I find it entertaining reading the contradictions month to month).

          • Thank you hixster, Baloo and Judg! I guess I have gotten a compliment or two in the last few months.

I stopped reading Men's Health a while back due to all of the contradictions, just like you said, Baloo. I can't seem to stop them from sending me emails regurgitating the same tired "facts", though.

adameads, I feel like my thinner frame is showing off my giant head now too...lol. I suppose it'll help as I keep broadening the shoulders.

My biggest weakness is alcohol. I am an alcoholic and although I have cut the daily beer out almost entirely I still seem to require whiskey or vodka as an alternative. I suppose this plight is two-fold, fitness and attempting to conquer alcohol. If anybody has experience with the latter I would love to read about it.
Great pics and great progress! I hear you on the alcohol. I gave it up years ago, but I gave up cigarettes in January of this year and my nightly benzo habit has gone from three to 1/2 of one pill- tapering to zero. I also gave up eating entire cheesecakes and driving through multiple fast food restaurants in ten minutes in March. So- we all have our demons. Alli can say re: the booze is to get yourself to an AA meeting ASAP. If you have an iPhone get the Steps Away app. Just go at it hard and save yourself a lot of pain.

                      Good luck.

I embarked on the primal journey in November 2011. I had poked around this forum for about 2 years before committing. My only regret is not committing on day 1. I crossfit 4-6 days a week and now eat primal 80/20.

I still have a lot of work to do, but I feel great! My chronic and severe heartburn/reflux has gone away, I can think clearer, I have more energy, I'm getting my strength and stamina back, and so on...

OMG I did the math! You've lost 72 pounds in hardly any time at all. How awesome. Good for you!

                            • Hit the 6 month mark, and man what a trip. This will probably be my last progression post outside my journal.. I don't think I can tell much more of a story in this thread than these photos already do, but I'll damn sure continue to creep here and check up on the rest of you. If you can't find motivation in this place, you're not wired right!
