  • Hey everyone. It may be a bit premature, but I am pleased with my early progress (which by this thread's measure probably only counts as "moderate"). After doing the cliched New Year's resolution to go primal, I have lost 22 lbs in two months. Down just 7 lbs in February, where I took more than half of the month off primal when I traveled to Australia and was less than perfect in the two days after returning. So losing over 7 lbs (considering that I must have gained significantly during my non-primal time) in just two weeks of good eating is fine with me.

The freaking wife, though. She is a freak. I'd say that since I started, she has probably been 60 - 70% primal. At 5 foot 8 inches, she initially weighed in at 118 lbs, and yesterday she weighed in at 111 lbs! I couldn't believe it. I didn't think that she had that much to lose. She wants to try to get down to about 105 (she obviously has a very slight frame), and I think she'll probably be able to.

At the beginning of this diet change, she complained that there weren't many examples of women in her position. Relatively thin, but wanting to lose the last 5 to 15 lbs. So if anyone out there that matches this description happens to be reading, just know that it is possible.

Here are comparison shots from January 3 to today. The "after" shots were taken this morning after a massive cheat night last night (sicilian pizza, mozzarella sticks, beer, a little ice cream). I feel like I've gained ever ounce back, but I think we can see true progress. Check them out.

So cheers, everyone. Keep up the good work!

    • I definitely see progress there, Freaker. Make sure you work on your posture as well, so as to avoid the rounded shoulders.

Waaaaaiiiiit a second there...your wife is 5'8" and wants to weigh 105 lbs???? Is that even possible? I mean, I'm roughly 5'6" and am aiming to get to 140. Are you sure you meant 105?

The second two are this morning after two months of pretty strict primal, one month of regular yoga and almost two weeks of no drinking Still a ways to go but this is great progress i think. Note in the second pictures I am flexing my abs (not sucking in though lol)

                        • New to the forum..intro pics

New to the forum. Thought I'd go ahead and get in the conversation. I've been messing with the primal diet off and on since about Oct/Nov 2011. I originally started with the "slow carb diet" and that somehow got me to primal. For the most part I've always been the skinny fat guy and the dent in my chest doesn't help with that.
So far I haven't been great at keeping it going. I'll have 4-5 good days and then I'll have a bad day or two. In fact, I just came off a family weekend where I did not eat well. I have given up dairy aside from a little cream and/or milk in my coffee and whey protein and I rarely eat any grains any more (except I do have several beers per week still). I don't think I've had any pasta in about 2 months.

My results so far have been mixed: I've gone from 181 at my highest to about 167 in 3-4 months. Only problem is I don't see much if any change in definition. My goals are to get to sub 8% bodyfat, boost my energy in sports, and add back the 6-10 inches in vertical I lost

Here we go. This is me in 1998 at 23 yoa and about 145# and about 10% bodyfat
                          IMAG0145.jpg

                          Here's me on Nov 1, 2011 at 178-181 and 17% by calipers
                          IMAG0061.jpg

Here I on Feb 22, 2012 at about 167. Don't seem to have gained any definition which is concerning since I lost 12-14 pounds
                          IMAG0133.jpg

Here I am on 3-3-12 at 167 prior to my bad weekend of eating. I see more def, but it's hard to say as I'm flexing my abs a little and I am not in the same spot I took the earlier pics

My suggestion, stop the beer. I had the same issue as you, would do great during the week then on the weekend I would drink a bunch which on top of being unhealthy, lead to bad food choices. It's tough but you can do it. You don't have to quit drinking forever. I actually had a few last night for the first time in weeks. But to be honest I feel like such crap today it wasn't worth it. When I cut the drinking (mostly was a beer drinker) and stuck to primal on the weekends as well I noticed a MASSIVE difference. Good luck
