The first photo (my wife and I) was taken in 2008, but it's a fair representation of what I looked like 2 months ago. She's actually hiding my handles and lower belly fat. Walk around weight back then was probably 205 lbs to 210 lbs (my average for the last 7 or 8 years). 2 months ago, when I started PB, I was 220 lbs with more muscle in the chest than the old picture, but even more belly and handle fat.

The second photo I just took (inspired by some of your success stories). Obviously I'm still a work in progress but my change has been dramatic. This isn't the first time i've looked similar to what I look like now, but that was over a year when I hit the gym 6 days a week, over trained, over sprained, carb and supplement loaded and still carried around over 210 lbs. This took 8 weeks, I weight 191 lbs, and I haven't felt this good in over a decade. In case anybody didn't catch that, I lost 29 lbs in 8 weeks!
    Great job!

    • Alright, MDA...time for some progress pics. I had a week in California, where it was rather challenging to eat completely primal, but I didn't have a single grain. Probably had some off-limit stuff in the hotel prepared foods, but did very well for the most part. Have hovered around 236 for what feels like a year. Finally got through that the last day or so, and clocked in at 233.4 this morning, my lowest weight in two years. I've been primal for nearly two months now, and have lost nearly 18 pounds. I'm doing SimpleFit to a T, and still need to get the "moving around frequently" and sprint workouts on a more consistent track. I feel like chasing two kids and tickling/roughhousing/walking the dogs is good, but not quite enough.

Anyway, here I am when I started the primal journey, in late December, 2011:

Here I am at about three weeks, taken on January 17:

      And, today:

What do you think, MDA? I have to say I'm incredibly pleased with how I feel. There's still a ton of soft stuff there to lose, but I notice small things...my wedding ring is looser. My 36 jeans fit again. I'm sleeping better, except for my rhinitis. I'm spending more time in the kitchen and around the dinner table with my family. I don't crash like I used to in the afternoon. I'm more confident and feel more in control of my thoughts/feelings/emotions, etc.

Anyway, I am going to continue on, and will post progress pictures in here on or around this time each month.

      Thanks.

      Grok on!

Dude, if I had read what you wrote before I started this little journey, it would've been prescient! As soon as I got married, I realized that I had swelling and inflammation in my hands. I'd had pain there for a while before that. Occasional hypoglycemia since I was a child, and now I know EXACTLY WHY! I don't remember a time when I felt this mentally or physically sharp. Great work, brother! I love this damn crowd!

I took some pictures last summer, when I had been working out with a trainer for 10 months, and GAINED 10 lbs. CW diet to blame:

In September I decided that I couldn't just work out, that I had to control what I was eating. I started back with Sparkpeople (I had lost 32 lbs tracking a low fat diet before) and was better about quantities of food, but was still eating carbs. A colleague of mine has been doing Paleo for about a year, and encouraged me gently to give it a go. I went to Chicago on business, and there greatly reduced my carbs. When I came back, my trainer saw a difference immediately. I hit the internet and found a link to the Ancestral Health Symposium, and Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt -LCHF and started eating that way. More videos from AHS and I saw Mark Sisson. Made my way over here, bought the book. I had been lifting heavy things with my trainer for over a year. Once I cut the grains and upped my fat, my shape started changing quickly.

I'm still a work in progress:

I just turned 40, married, 2 boys, work full time. I've taken up sewing recently, and the skirt that I made to measure is way too big by the time I got it hemmed.

The best thing for me about this WOE is that I don't measure my food or calculate my calories, eat when I'm hungry and never get out of control hunger. I didn't believe it was possible for me.
If anyone has seen my journal, you will know that over the last week I slipped off the side of the wagon and was dragged through a pile of wheat and sugar. Here is where I have gotten to:

              • I have been asked a few times for some full body pictures since I posted my 120+ pound weight loss pictures and Primal couple at Christmas photos but I have never really goten around to it.

Tonight I found an awesome bacon t-shirt at Target and thought to heck with it, might as well bug my wife to take a couple shots.

For reference I put some late 2010 pictures in. I was around 340 pounds, in 5 months I lost 100 pounds and over the last 13 months I am down about 130 ish. On the scale I am still around 220 but have been weight lifting a lot. As long as the size 36 jeans stay baggy I am happy. I would like to drop some more but I am taking it nice and slow now.

So without further ado I present me, 20 minutes ago, after a long day at work and then with the 3 small kids and pregnant wife, after big dinner, and shot with an Iphone (not exactly glamour shots). I had to flex btw, I am after all wearing a bacon shirt!

According to my kids I am looking more and more like the Hulk every day

                              • Hello Grokstars,
I'll apologize now for this being way too long. I can't talk about the primal blueprint and keep it short at the same time. After getting so much inspiration from all of you and your stories and pics I felt that I must pay it forward. So, here are my progress pics live and in person on the internet. I know that I am part of the primal community because I eat bacon every day and I eat chocolate every day. My pants are all way too big and I have bacon grease stains on most of my t-shirts. I'm 5'10-1/2"ish and 45 years old this month. Day 1 was Sept 19, 2011 at 274 lbs. I didn't feel like 274 lbs but I sure looked like a big giant fatass in those pictures. These pics are on Feb 17, 2012 after 21 weeks of the primal good life, probably 95% or better most weeks. I weighed 236 lbs when I took these pics on Feb 17th. I weigh 233 today. Thanks for helping me lose 40 lbs peeps.

I have all the same stories as the rest of you. I feel great, joint pain is virtually gone, blood pressure is down more than 20 points, energy levels are way up and steady all day, I can easily fast for 24 hours 2 or 3 times per week. I can do 40 push ups in one shot on a good day, I walk 3 to 4 miles per day and I can do 1-3/4 pull ups. I can do 20+ squats with virtually no knee pain, this was literally impossible 22 weeks ago. I coach my kids' sports and I actually get out there and run with them at practice now. The only thing that primalness has not cured for me is allergies. I haven't had any noticeable illness this winter. My wife and kids (10 and 12) are also primal and loving it. There is a huge difference in the kids' energy levels and performance levels in sports. They have also slimmed up and leaned out noticeably. Every time we start to get a cold or sniffles it is gone in a day or two.

The ultimate key to my success and real improvements in energy levels and fasting was to give up my fear of fat. Embrace the fat. Love the fat. Eat the fat. I rarely eat chicken, turkey or lean pork now. I always eat high fat foods at every meal, applewood smoked bacon, pastured eggs, grass fed beef, or grass fed pork butt/shoulder, almonds, avocado and raw whole milk. It took me 8 or 10 weeks to figure out that I feel way better with more fat. We cook everything in bacon fat. I ain't kiddin!

I continue to be amazed with the ease of this program. I do not feel deprived, on a diet or any other negative feeling that people have when they are suffering through a DIET. My treats nowadays is decaf coffee with raw whole milk and a square or two of dark chocolate with bacon in it. Mmmmm. Or some red wine or a pina colada.

What is my goal? I've already surpassed my goal to feel happy, healthy, ALIVE and in control of my body. I know better than to set a goal weight because I've watched too many of you zoom past your goal weight to weigh what you weighed in Jr High or whatever. So, I'll weigh what I'm going to weigh, I don't really care. I feel so good right now that I just really can't imagine it getting better. But, the great part is that I know it will. As soon as I can see abs I'm going to send my success story in to Mark.

                                Keep Grokkin!
