Maybe some not-so-lean protein might help with being able to exercise and not gain? I absolutely need fat to avoid overeating, and I mean animal fat.
I had not thought of that.

One thing to mention was that exercise wasn't helping even if I did a lot of cardio over several months time a few years back. This is when i was following low fat. Then when I got chemistry sorted out and was doing low carb, I wasn't pushing that hard, just rode a bicycle a few times a day to get my heart rate going, and still the belly grew.

The only clues I have are 1)adrenals are suspect, since they were not working at all by 2007 (see big me pic), and 2) I read Marks story on here about what happened to him late in his running career.

Marks story sounded familiar. Since the illness was stressful (rough on adrenals) and the prednisone was a strong (and damaging) steroid, I am thinking even moderate exercise is raising cortisol levels.

This would explain why exercising just adds belly. Each time I tried it and put on 5-10 lb, I would just focus on relaxing and it would go back to where it was in about a week.

          Weird, huh?

There are too many fantastic folks here to cal them all out by name,
but I do have a question for Meg...

            What do the words say?
This way if we ever meet I won't be staring at your chest trying to figure it out! *grin*

              • Utterly inspirational, everyone. This is hands-down my favorite thread in the great wide web of the 'net.

I'd post my pictures here, but I figure I can just post a link instead: Eat This, “Eat This, Not That!” | Mark's Daily Apple

Hopefully they'll serve as inspiration to anyone looking to get healthy in (or out!) of college.

I also find it's easier to see the difference if you're wearing the same clothes (or at least similar) for your before and after pics...

                            • awesome, jason! so glad those pictures finally turned up. you look great. and like a totally different guy.

since when are pictures of a woman's body "soft core porn?" those are just pictures. i grant you, they are nice poses than "before/after" shots from "the biggest loser" or whatever, but still.

                              • Never said it was just the women. Plenty of guys posting pics in their underwear on this thread, too. Seriously gonna get fired if someone walks by while that stuff's up.
