  • Glad to see you post Canuck, been a while.
Interesting article. I think the concept of a "tame human" is so appropriate. I think there are so many of us who live a very domesticated life, we follow so much bland routine, depend on so many conveniences -- the power switch, grocery, and tv to get us through. If you were to drop me off in a wilderness area with no supplies, I'd have no clue what plants I could eat, no skills for catching game, and only rudimentary knowledge for navigating through the area. Similarly, I have no knowledge (or interest) in trying to grow my own food. If we ever have a true disaster, I'm in big trouble.
The Buck stops here. I am responsible for my past and my future. So for today: I choose to be happy. I will seek wisdom. I will be a servant to others. I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit.

    • Happy New Year everyone! It's been quite awhile since I dropped into MDA. Really like the website upgrade. Just want to let everyone know I'm still alive and living the Paleo Lifestyle and feeling great! Started off the new year with a renewed focus on fitness and eliminating the usual Christmas Paleo friendly deserts to drop a few pounds. I'm coming up on my 65 birthday this year and fired up to make it the best year ever. I'll drop in every week or so and keep everyone updated on my progress and any insights that might be helpful for all you other seniors out there

It's my 65th birthday this year too. Planning to really ramp up my health, cut right down on wine and the odd bad eating habit which has crept up slightly. I've just got weighed and am the heaviest I've been for some time - 11 stone. Doesn't sound much at 6 foot tall, but I've a very slight frame and this is certainly overweight. Aiming for more salad, more veg, less potatoes and rice and absolutely nothing with sugar.

Ha ha, I hear you on the wine. I know it's sort of Paleo friendly but it's easy to make a glass or two a nightly habit and I'm convinced it adds to the belly fat.

Yes it is a little disorienting when you move from something you're comfortable with, but life is all about change, hopefully we'll get some of the regulars back on board.

                  • Made a commitment a week ago to adding at least 3 avocados and 3 meals with salmon every week, also a bowl (cup) of wild blue berries every second day. All Paleo and all super foods. Here's a great salad with all three...

                      • I'm thinking about adding Diatomaceous Earth to my diet, anyone out there ever tried this and if so what were your results. Thanks!

                        • Curious why. I use it around the exterior of my home for stopping bugs. It rubs the bottom of their body and they dehydrate.

                          • Check out the link perennialpam - Not over doing it with supplements these days - coconut oil for oil pulling, Kelp for iodine, Vitamin D3 and Turmeric. Now adding Diatomaceous Earth - it's all about the Silica, supposed to be great for your joints and also as a detox. Very important to use only a little - teaspoon once or twice per day. I'll be starting with just one.
