  • Happy New Year everyone! Just finished a fun filled couple of weeks eating too many Paleo friendly treats, eating too much dark chocolate and drinking a bit too much red wine. Time to get back in gear, going strict Paleo for a month. No wine, paleo treats or dark chocolate for the next month. Need to lose a few pounds! Wishing you all a healthy and successful 2015!

          • Read this quote this morning in a Forum discussing the Paleo diet and could not have said it better..."Based in archaeological fact or otherwise, eating a diet of clean, whole meat, fish, nuts, seeds, eggs, fruits, and vegetables is UNDENIABLY healthier than the standard American diet. Why rally against a lifestyle that promotes good health and sustainable food? Regardless of how the caveman actually ate, isn't it about time Americans took a look at the filth they consume? Isn't it time we started asking questions about *why* hamburger helper costs less than broccoli? It's irresponsible to attempt to debunk a 'diet' that actually offers a sick, tired, fat nation a chance at health and happiness." - Corrina Abbott Milito

            • Agree, and she said it without referencing ratios or quantities of carbs/fats/protein. Amazing! How could it be done?
<Sorry, been reading too many recent threads>
The Buck stops here. I am responsible for my past and my future. So for today: I choose to be happy. I will seek wisdom. I will be a servant to others. I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit.

Ha ha, I agree the over analyzing of macros gets a bit tiresome.

There must be a paragraph missing that canuck didn't quote

                    • Hi Everyone....I'm helping a friend of mine Tod Novak promote his book - The Human Connection . I think Primal lifestyle people will enjoy it. We have seen tremendous advances in communication technologies that have dramatically improved our ability to build networks and reconnect with old friends. However this has become such a dominating part of our culture that people in the same household often resort to texting family members in the next room. Are we losing our ancestral communication skills, the art of communicating face to face? The Human Connection is a fascinating read providing insights and solutions to help balance the use of technology in our lives. You can pre-order the hard cover (released in February) and get a free communication/personality analysis here...

                          • The Paleo diet is often dismissed by many who don't take the time to understand how the modern Paleo diet works. Dr. Wahls takes the criticisms head on in this well written essay....

                            • Just for fun this morning I did the Crossfit Baseline Workout in 4:27, not bad for an old guy! - Give it a try and see how you do....
                              For time, do:
                              500 meter row (Concept 2)
40 body-weight squats — full depth, hip crease below knee
30 sit-ups — start with shoulders touching the ground
                              20 push-ups — chest to floor
10 pull-ups — chin above bar, full extension at the bottom
That’s a very reasonable standard. It tests strength, strength-endurance, and the ability to endure a demanding workout. Here’s how CrossFit interprets times (Male/Female):
                              3:45, 4:40 — Elite
                              4:30, 5:35 — Pro
                              5:15, 6:30 — Expert
                              6:15, 7:30 — Collegiate
                              7:15, 8:30 — Intermediate
                              8:15, 9:30 — Novice
                              9:15, 10:30 — Beginner
