@TenYearStorm--Definitely don't usually eat out, just not at home for this week, so I don't have too many options...I'll try cutting out the nuts, too!

@Griff, 59g CHO is way too much? If I'm going to cut out nuts, what's the best way to up the fat??? When I'm at home, I could add oil/butter to things, but other than that, guac has quite a few carbs, and cutting out dairy would limit fat too...

    Sorry for all the ?s...

@Panthek: Yes, 59g of carbs is way, way too much for effective fat loss. To bring up your fats, eat high-fat meats like 70/30 ground beef and high-fat dark-meat poultry. Eat butter on the cooked vegetables and olive oil on the salads. Buy coconut oil and eat it by the tablespoon.

Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.

Well, you can color me confused... :-)

Based on my reading of the book and understanding of the carb curve, 59g of carbs might be too much for *rapid* weight loss, but not *effective* weight loss (unless the definition of "effective" = "rapid", which in turn seems to be defined as more than 1-2 pounds/week). This is from the notes under the carb curve:

"0-50 grams per day: Ketosis and I.F. (Intermittent Fasting) zone. Excellent catalyst for rapid fat loss through I.F. Not recommended for prolonged periods (except in medically supervised programs for obese or Type 2 diabetics) due to unnecessary deprivation of plant foods.

50-100 grams per day: Sweet Spot for Weight Loss. Steadily drop excess body fat by minimizing insulin production. Enables 1-2 pounds per week of fat loss with satisfying, minimally restrictive meals."

Seems to me 59g would be at the lower end of the Sweet Spot range for 1-2 pounds/week. Am I confusing the terms "weight loss" and "fat loss" (i.e., are they not the same thing in the above context)? Not asking to be argumentative, but rather because I'm still aiming to loose another 15 pounds over the next few months, and if I'm misreading I'll have to make some adjustments to hit that goal.

Sure, but if you want to drop weight really fast, as Panthek seems to, then cutting carbs down to absolutely nothing is a better way to go about it, in my experience. And boosting fat intake is also important - not enough fat, and nothing drops off.

Cool -- thanks; talking about rapid vs steady then. For myself, I've averaged around 75-80g/day over the past 8 weeks since I started this (not at 100% PB -- not enough play! - but definitely over the 80%). Pretty big drop the first 4 weeks (12 pounds); then another 2-3 pounds over weeks 5-6; then nothing the last two weeks (strange I know this since I decided a couple of weeks ago to shift to a monthly weigh-in :-) Anyway, I realize this is far from being a "plateau" yet, but I mentally do a lot better seeing steady progress, even if nominal, so I'm going to pull the carbs down closer to 50g for at least a few weeks to see what kind of action I get.
