  • I definitely feel that my sense of taste has improved dramatically. I am catching new subtle flavors of food that I never tasted before, and am noticing how combinations of food can create entire new experiences. For example, ive found that red leichester cheese and malbec red wine creates a taste in my mouth not unlike a rich, earthy, chocolaty sensation.

However, this new taste experience is not always positive. I just found out that truffle-infused pate and kalamata olives together = wet dog.

    • Since I only need to eat twice a day, and one of them is a breakfast (or leftovers), I don't get to try as many delicious recipes as I want. In due time, in due time.

Going to a restaurant isn't fun anymore, everything tastes like crap. I end up getting just a steak (or fish) with a side of (eww) steamed vegetables, but why bother when it's so tasteless? I can make that 5 stars at home if I wanted to.

My boyfriend is sad that I lost all my butt. Agreed, I'm sad too... I promised I would work out my butt if he likes it so much :P

In bed, he's always complaining about my sharp toenails. AGAIN? I just cut them!

My hair is growing like an invading plant. OK, actually, I love that! I want it down to my thighs. But I know soon I will start getting disapproving comments from my family.

Sometimes I nearly burn dinner, because I was too busy admiring my curves in the mirror.

I have to watch friends and family eat what they eat with deep anguish, when they're so unhealthy. I have to watch children growing up eating mac and cheese on a daily basis. I cry on the ride home :-(

      • [QUOTE=CattyB;642903]That my small cast iron pot of hamburger soup (1/2 lb ground beef, 1/4 lb pork sausage, diced green peppers, onions, bone broth, seasonings) has lasted for 3 whole days[QUOTE]

That is amazing. I would eat all of that as part of one meal. Then again, I lift heavy 4x/week and usually only eat 2 meals a day. It definitely sounds delicious, though. I'm getting into soup/stew mode.

        • How about:

What a bother, soon I'll have to buy lots of cute winter skirts and knit some funky socks, because for the first time in my life, my legs are TOO PRETTY not to show off!

          That's going to be expensive!

          • Went through a box of old pants that I'd set aside about 2 years ago. I thought I'd put them away because they were all too small for me at the time, but soon discovered that most of them (about 8 pairs out of the dozen in there) are too friggin' short!

Why the hell did I keep them???? Dunno, probably my wheat-addled brain thought that if I took up less room around, they'd have more length?

(they're now at the nearest Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store... I hope a short, wide person can use them.)
            Started 7/5/11 at 274 lbs
            Now 214 -- that's 60 lbs!
Goal 160 lbs -- last time there was in junior high!

Keep smiling, and let them keep wondering.

Prep work takes me forever, I've cut myself three times
And everything I make is freaking delicious.

                      • Oh yeah another frustration:
Peeing like every hour because you drink more water than you ever used to....having to pee is the worst feeling in the world.

                          • I love the humor in most of these! It IS tough feeling and looking better, isn't it? :-) (My local thrift stores are supplying me with some great new clothes that fit!)

But yeah, it's tough watching people you love eat stuff you KNOW (now) is bad for them and you can't do a thing about it. My sis and brother in law are 15 years older than I am (i.e., in their 80s) and live in another state. They've got lots of health problems. We just got back from a visit and I wish SO MUCH I could convince them, or help, or cook for them, or something...

                            Old dogs, new tricks...not easy.

                            • I'm noticing the same "frustration" you guys are having - my clothes are expanding. My jeans have grown to the point that they are noticeably loose and require a belt (which I don't own, so I keep having to pull them up). My lawyer suits are also expanding, and if they keep growing at the same pace, I'll need to go to a tailor to get them taken in. This may turn out to be a very expensive diet.

                              • Now that I have the highest quality food in my diet, I am starting to expect the highest quality out of everything in my life. As I replace clothes that have gotten too big, I find myself moving away from craptacular mass-produced clothing from big box stores that falls apart after a wash and a half. Instead, i get fewer pieces of clothing that are nicer quality, which of course is more expensive. I justify the cost by figuring that I expect to remain largely the same size for a long period of time, for the first time ever.
