  • I get aggravated that I forget I HAVE to tuck my shirt into my jeans so they will fit better since I can not afford new jeans right now. Always unbutton, unzip, tuck tuck tuck...

    • When flying on a plane, what do you do with the leftover part of the seat belt that just flaps around? How annoying I never used to have any.

      • I'm going to have to get a cushion for my chair here. My tush has gotten so much smaller that now my elbows on the armrests push my shoulders up and my scapulae are tired after a very short time...and my elbows get sore!
        Started 7/5/11 at 274 lbs
        Now 214 -- that's 60 lbs!
Goal 160 lbs -- last time there was in junior high!

Since going primal, Weekend Brunch is totally ruined for me. In San Francisco, brunch is like the yuppie/techy/hipster version of church, in that its not just a meal, its an extended event complete with socializing, wearing clothes that are at least presentable and decent, extended discussions and planning on what restaurant to visit, etc etc. As you might expect, there are many, many, many places that have awesome brunches, but for most of them, their best brunch combinations and creations are very starch-and-carb heavy. The only high-protein options tend to be eggs or sides of bacon (which I can make at home) or omelettes (which I have rapidly become sick of).

Some places have more luncher-bruncher options, like cuts of meat and burgers and stuff, but not as many as "regular" brunch options. I miss the ability to go out with friends or a special boy and spend an hour, hour and a half, lazily enjoying coffee over some crepes or a fresh belgian waffle.
You know, totally depending on your own preferences and tolerances and such of course, you could just call that your one cheat meal for the week and go enjoy it! I tend to think that 100% adherence at the demise of social activities we really enjoy isn't doing anyone any good. No obviously that varies depending on the individual, the ability to handle cheat meals and get the results you want, etc but I throw it out there anyway.

          • corvidae,

we always get some form of eggs benedict while out for brunch. oh, it's a BIG ass deal for us. We usually get: "eggs sharkie" which is bed of spinach, smoked salmon, poached egg and hollandaise with a side of salad and mushrooms in pesto. Add to that some tea/coffee, a fruit bowl, and you have yourself at least 2 hours.

how could places in SF not have such a thing?

              Really, cold any meat
              Crab cakes
              Salad dressing
              Chicken/tuna salad
              Sushi rolls
              [...]
The last batch I made was half coconut oil, half olive oil, and set up nice and thick!
Duck fat makes great mayo, but bacon mayo (I also mix with something else) is indeed excellent.

I hardly ever make it because I hardly ever get the urge. But as she says above it's really great for any meat that's cold, or really anything lean or not as juicy or full of good fats as you might like.

The other biggie for me that's not on the list above is Hard-Boiled Eggs. Yum!

You can also use it as the base to make dips.

                • I've been getting carded almost every time I buy wine or beer! That hasn't happened very much since I turned 30 - I'll be 35 next month.

Thats true, although I haven't been doing well with wheat based things in the last month or so; last thing i had was half of a gooey, delicious, homemade-from-scratch brownie and I woke up at 3am with TERRIBLE intestinal cramps. Bugger. BUT, I also miss delicious, fried, crispy, perfectly-done hash browns and that would make brunch a lot more worthwhile again ^_^

                          • reading this thread cracks me up and inspires me. I look forward to loose fitting clothes and having too much energy. Not so sure how that will work being someone who is ADHD.
