It only took me 8 mos to "get it right".

I hope I can keep it up a good long time and get lean & mean

I am very confused... thought ketosis was probably the easiest thing to get into? no carbs = ketosis after a short while, no?
I used to seriously post here, now I prefer to troll.

Awesome, congrats! I've been trying, but still haven't managed to convince myself to put down the cauliflower, the kale, etc....I guess I could have worse problems than liking veggies too much, though.

I wasn't achieving it eating 50g carbs/daily. Was really struggling. The last few weeks I've really buckled down and stayed well under 30g. In the last couple days I also shifted my eating window to noon to 6p. I've focused on eating all the good fats I can (avocado, EVCO, EVOO, bacon), and I just feel it's all really starting to finally gel. My blood sugars are finally dropping too. I'm extremely insulin resistant, so this is huge.
              I'm just so happy!

I'm like you in that I require a lower amount of carbs than most, I guess. I wish I could have more, but there's a very fine line that when crossed, pops me out onto the other side, so I aim to keep it to <20 to be sure. It's worth it, though - the difference in the way I feel is insane!

Congrats!! Hope it makes the hunger/cravings/temptation issues it much easier for you as it does for me. The difference in energy level is an even bigger perk!

That's great news that your BG control is getting better. As far as the ketostix, I thought that was just an indication that you were "wasting" ketones, ie passing them and not using them for energy. From what I've heard, they can indicate high levels of ketones when you first get to ketosis and then the levels will diminish as you adapt to burning ketones for energy. So don't get discouraged if the sticks indicate that you aren't "in ketosis" is what I guess I'm trying to say.

ketosis is just the state of having elevated levels of ketone bodies in the body. ketones are formed when the body uses up its stores of glycogen in the liver. Basically when the glycogen is used up the body starts converting fat cells to be used for fuel, during this process ketone bodies are made. those ketone bodies go on to be fuel for other areas of your body and break down themselves into acetone.

having the ketones in your urine is actually the waste product of the whole process (acetone) leaving your body
