  • I've gone a whole week without diet sodas and zero carb monsters, and I am not lethargic! YAY!

I also did my first bodyweight exercises 2 days ago. I'm on Level 1-2, but I did them! I was so thankful for the modified versions, because what scared me the most when I first heard that pull-ups and stuff were recommended was the thought that I couldn't ever do them. In middle school, years ago, I could only do 1 pullup, and I was bone thin!

THANK YOU MARK FOR GIVING ME ALTERNATIVES TO A SIT UP! I was pretty good at them, but I hated them!

    • I did my first 3 sets of pushups (albeit 3 sets of 6)! Time to step it up a notch and go further.

How about 5 sets of situps this week?

      • Since I started playing rugby, I've never been truly fit. Went Primal 4.5 months ago, have lost 54lbs, and have been working out with strength and speed all summer. For the first time ever, I was the first of the Forwards to finish the workout we were doing and not the last.

        • I just divested over 30 hangers of shirts and dresses that I'm never going to be big enough to wear again! They're headed off to the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store...which is where I'll probably shop for some more inexpensive 'transition' clothing.
          Started 7/5/11 at 274 lbs
          Now 214 -- that's 60 lbs!
Goal 160 lbs -- last time there was in junior high!

          • Today I slid down a three-story-high water slide, screaming like a little bitch all the way down. No way would I have done that 80 pounds ago and/or with the horrible Iron Maiden still in my back. Two years ago, I remember looking wistfully at that slide, and today I finally did it. I had the biggest smile in the pool. The joy of movement and being released from prison, FTW.

Baby if you time travel back far enough you can avoid that work because the dust won't be there. You're too pretty to be working that hard.

When are we going to see a Friday story on you Tigerlily? You're story just keeps getting better and better

I'm closer and closer to being free of that prison...... It inspires me to know how far you've come.

                  • Y'all are so sweet. I've got my x-rays of the "Iron Maiden" as my "before" photo, and I'd like to have as my "after" photo me snowboarding or riding a horse. I'm not quite there yet. I still have more work to do posture-wise and weight-wise, too. I'm still a bit mangled-looking, but I WILL get there; still in some sort of therapy or postural class 6 days a week 3-1/2 years after the accident.

But I will definitely submit my story to Mark because it was watching videos, with tears streaming down my face, of Primal-inspired movement (MovNat/Methode Naturalle/Parkour) that kept me going.

Wow! As triumphs go, that definitely trumps my overcoming a stupid personal superstition that as soon as I get rid of my "fat" clothes, I'm going to need them...

Now I really really want to read your whole story!

                          • Personal triumphs:

30lbs lost! Yeah yeah I know, I actually checked the scale.

Had to punch a hole way further down on my belt again.

My Sprinting times are much much better.

I have enough energy to do whatever I want, whenever I want.

I am eating delicious food and I'm more "regular."

I threw my asthma inhaler in the garbage. Good riddance!

I am proving every last one of my doctors are wrong about health every day by living my life happily.
