Now, i don't want to say that it's because many people here have frighteningly terrible teeth, but our new dentist loves us.
First, Dh had his dental appointment today (They divide the dentist adn the cleaning -- very weird). They did the thorough look-see and the guy was *impressed* with the cleanliness, strength of the teeth and gums. This is great, considering it has been 1.5 years since our last appointments AND back then, he had some kind of gum issue (receding gums, pulling away from the tooth). he mentioned it to the dentist, and the dentist said there is no sign at all of what the other dentist was finding.
So totally clean bill of health on the dental side of things for DH!
OH my triumph! While on the road for work today, I looked in the rear view mirror and thought my face looked different, possibly thinner. I promptly then freaked out, mentally convinced myself that no I was actually fatter, and needed to stuff myself with donuts - my normal reaction to weight loss - AND I resisted!!
At dinner tonight with some friends, they also said my face looks thinner. So maybe there's hope
Fighting fibromyalgia and chronic myofascial pain since 2002.
I attended a conventions of dietitians yesterday and managed to stick to not only a Primal diet, but a Whole 30 diet for the whole day. Avoided croissants, butter, coffee cream, caesar salad with croutons, a huge cheese platter and large home-made style cookies, all former poor control foods for me. I took my own coffee (with coconut milk) and my own lunch (a smoked porkchop with home-made mayo for dipping), and simply made mention of the fact that I don't eat wheat as my reason for avoiding the buffet table items. Worked! Planning is everything!
This about sums up the root cause of the obesity epidemic.
Awesome job on resisting temptations and planning ahead!
If I hadn't been doing Whole 30, I would have been able to have a nice Primal meal from their buffet. Two lovely green salads (easy enough to avoid croutons), steamed veggies, oven roasted potatos, baked chicken, fresh fruit on the dessert buffet, all that great cheese. Easy enough to avoid the baking and the rolls. The rest would have been doable if I was allowing myself dairy products. I even avoided the streamed veggies to prevent eating butter.
Out of 140 (mostly) women, there were maybe 3 or 4 that would be considered overweight, none were obese. Compared to a random group of Canadian or American women, that's a rare thing. We are doing something right!
