• DO NOT GO CARNIVORE!!

...at least on grain-fed meats. unless youre eating grass-fed and are truly eating the whole animal (organ meats, bone marrow, etc.) i would not recommend it at all. for a few months i cut out most veggies and was eating lots of meat fat and nuts (occasional offal) and i ended up losing a LOT of hair, missed my period for 6 months lost weight then gained it back (although weight isn't a huge concern for me) and was told that i tested positive for a clotting agent in my blood by my gynecologist. i reintroduced a variety of veggies and am buying grass-fed. im also supplmenting with a daily vitamin and omega-3. i now have much less hair loss, finally got my period and generally feel better.

No way was your health issue due to CAFO meat. That's all a lot of people eat, and their hair doesn't fall out. Like most of America, and while Americans may have health issues, extreme loss of hair and periods are not what's going on.

Exactly - what made you think that it was strictly caused by the commercial meat?

          maybe you werent eating enough.

plenty of people of the zero carber forum report none of these problems.

have you taken accutane or any other presciption drugs?

Were you taking a multivitamin? How did you cook the meat? I've heard of vitamins being burned off by cooking to well done.

It is conceivable that you weren't getting an essential vitamin especially since grain fed animals don't pass on some nutrient that others do.

there is something else going on here. you are the first to report this. i would get checked out before you blame it on carnivore. how fatty was your meat? you might not have been getting enough fat, which would explain the hair loss.

that said, it is perfectly possibly the zero carb is not for everyone. i do not believe there is an ultimate diet for everyone, despite my support for zero carb and carnivore diets.

                          Vivian,

I remember when you first came on board you were having some health issues- amenorrhea, chest pains, etc...is it just possible that the carnivore diet is not what's actually causing you problems?

kuno1chi, maybe but the amenorrhea started after changing my diet; maybe it wasnt carnivore because i wasnt taking any supplements then but have consecutively for the past two weeks...i just think that maybe i wasnt getting all of the necessary nutrients from going carnivore

I'm confused, are you thinking the clotting agent came from the meat?!?

The more I see the less I know for sure.
