  • Celebrating what the Primal Blueprint and the MDA have done for me....

    I have lost 50 pounds!- and 38 inches, and 6% body fat

    It has Saved My Life - I started the PB back in late September on the advice of my chiropractor. Three weeks in, I almost died from Bilateral Pulmonary Emboli at the age of 43. (My body tried to fight inflammation damage in my legs by making blood clots that traveled to my lungs.) The PB is making it possible for me to heal the inflammation in my body and cut my risk of another incident.

    I have perfect bloodwork - Those were my doctor's words.
    Total Cholesterol-172, HDL-62, LDL-91, Trigs-96 (down from 128)
    Ratios (Thanks to Griff for the info) Total/HDL= 2.8 (Ideal below 4.4)
    Trig/HDL=1.5 (Ideal below 2.0)
    LDL/HDL=1.5 (Ideal below 4.3)
    Three Years ago, I was pre-diabetic with an A1C of 5.6 (6.0 and above is diabetic). My fasting blood sugar was 93, now it is 86.
    My doctor took a copy of Primal 101 and the shopping list to give to her patients.

    My body is working the way it should. This is where you wonderful people on the MDA have helped so much. My first three months of Primal were bumpy at best. I was still bingeing on grains and sugar knowing all the while that I was playing "russian roulette" with my clotting problem. I started reading about supplements and hormonal issues. First, I added Vitamin D (Thanks Cillicat). My 25-OH is now 51. Then I added amino acids and magnesium. I have been binge free for three months so my body has finally been able to heal.

    Did I mention that I lost 50 pounds! Sorry, Just wanted to say it again. LOL This week I will be putting some before and during pics up in the "Before and After" thread.

    Thanks for everything guys - the inspiration, the laughter and the encouragement.

              I'm hoping for that someday as well. My ultimate goal is to be under 175. I have a little more than 50 pounds to go, but we'll see. I am 5'10' and have been building muscle, so I may not have 50 more pounds of fat left to lose. It is no longer about the number for me, but about ultimate health. *Of course, right now I am liking the number 50 a whole lot.

                      Pebbles - Simply Awsome! When you hit that 50lb mark, it seems to really make people take notice. Good job reducing your inflamation too - it affects so many systems in our body and causes so much damage. You are on your way to healthy and hopefully happy life!

                          Pebbles, this just goes to show that you are one of our Primal superstars. Well done! *applause*
                          Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.

                              Congrats, Paula!! That's fucking outstanding progress indeed! Looking forward to the "before" and "after"s.
