Anyone experienced improvement in IBS symptoms by following PB?

  • #2
Yup. Ankle pain and diarrhea were my two major complaints. Both have cleared up.

I'm now pretty sure my "IBS" was actually gluten intolerance or celiac. going primal fixed it overnight. (although I still have occasional issues with cross-contamination and gluten in places you wouldn't expect, like in blue cheese).

        Yes, I have seen this.
Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.

IBS was one of my major issues and with paleo it is almost non-existent anymore. I specifically followed the GAPS protocol by Dr. Natasha McBride to really get my digestion/gut in order.

People say I am on a "crazy" diet. What is so crazy about eating veggies, fruits, seafood and organ meats? Just because I don't eat whole wheat and processed food doesn't make my diet "crazy". Maybe everyone else with a SAD are the "crazy" ones for putting that junk in their system.

I used to suffer from this quite badly but as soon as I gave up grains it disappeared

Yes cutting out grains and sugar were definitely beneficial. Dairy helped some but not as much as grains.

Yep... IBS went away immediately following PB. Worked like a magic potion.

100% gone since giving up wheat. Was probably celiac, not IBS.

I'd venture to say we are among the healthiest-boweled internet forum members around. For me too, it is / was wheat that caused all my bowel issues. That's an extremely common finding here.

Me too! For YEARS I dealt with chronic constipation. I was taking Colace and Citrucel twice a day in large quantities to no avail. Eating the PB way fixed it! I unfortunately still binge (eating disorder), but it's always on primal foods (ok, primal-ish--dark chocolate and dried fruit sometimes). Things are still good when this happens for the most part. Occasionally it'll be not quite as regular, but it's NOTHING compared to the old days. Sorry if this is TMI, but it dawned on me the other day how much more time I have now because I'm not in the bathroom taking forever!!!

Yep, it turns out I might have celiac disease. But you couldn't pay me to eat a wheat-y diet to prove it, noooo thanks. The sickness isn't worth it.
