  • +1,

knock on wood, but I rarely get sick anymore and I haven't had a serious sinus cold since starting PB. I used to get knock down, drag out sinus colds 2-3x a year but not any more. I think that the elimination of processed/refined carbs played a huge part...

    • Wow! I hope the backs of my hands look younger! Fat is nature's Botox. I lost 145 pounds and at 47 your skin isn't going to bounce back much. So any skin improvements are appreciated!

Symptoms indicative of benign prostate enlargement, GONE. Once my MD ruled out cancer he had no answers for me.
And my skin just has a healthy glow. Not something I noticed but was noted by friends.

I don't know what I was deficient in but clearly it was something.
I hope my severe allergies clear up!

        • Hi!

I have been following a Primal/IF schedule (18/6) for about 2 months now. I workout fasted and lift heavy. The obvious benefits have been fat loss and muscle gain so far. I have a lot more energy and I'm sleeping better as well. I would estimate that I am about 80% primal.

One of the major health related issues I have is psoriasis. I am currently taking a very nasty drug called Soriatane for this and it works very well. The drug costs about $1200 a month (Ridiculous...), however I have been getting it free from the drug company through a program since I'm without health insurance at the moment. I am nearing the end of the program and I'm actually excited to see if my new lifestyle has any positive effects. I'm really hoping that it will...I love having clear skin but I hate being dependent on the harsh drugs.

Exact same for me. I never really had any kind of serious susceptibility for getting sick, but I would have bad allergies especially this time of year. I went this entire flu season without as much as a runny nose.

I can only assume that avoiding grains and sugar helped my body function properly... and shoveling down huge amounts of green stuff, saturated fat, and an occasional post-workout fruit certainly hasn't hurt.

            • Very motivating thread. Today is only day 7 for me. Needless to say the carb flu is making primal eating extremely difficult. My main issue is low energy. Ive been having a hard time making it through the day. My job can be very demanding at times and requires constant high energy. Sweet fruit has helped slightly. I can't wait to get over the hump and fully adapt to primal eating. This thread has been very inspirational and has helped me a great deal to stay the course. I can't wait to contribute, thanks guys!

Primal doesn't have to be low carb. Just low grain.

Maybe you should eat more potatoes?
Disclaimer: I eat 'meat and vegetables' ala Primal, although I don't agree with the carb curve. I like Perfect Health Diet and WAPF Lactofermentation a lot.

Ah, ok, makes sense. Sorry, I get confused about some of the things that are harder to do when you're bigger since I haven't been there myself.

                          Thanks!

Nothing you'd thought of changing, something you just thought was 'normal' or 'normal ageing' and part of life, until it suddenly isn't.

                            Like for instance...
                            • no more spots on my back
                            • no more dandruff in my eyebrows
                            • no more hurriedly putting down big saucepans when dishing up because of wrist pain
                            • no more bellyache

                            Any more?
For me, and this is only week 2 of my second attempt:

*no more gas. This might sound funny, but I was in PAIN, especially at night and my husband suffered also.
*no more mucus in my stool. This is big! I was convinced I had IBS, but it appears not.
*my bloated lower belly is much flatter. This was instant, after day 1.
*no more sinus issues! I was waking up literally every morning feeling like I'd been punched in the face. I couldn't breathe, my throat was sore (GERD too, maybe?) and my eyes and face were hot and swollen. ALL GONE!!
*I can taste and smell better already. Weird, but I noticed at church how many different old lady perfumes I could pick up. lol

                              - that bumpy skin condition thing i've always had on my arms seems to be easing up
Me too! I had that too... now my upper arms are a LOT hairier... XD

                              • I'm on Eat more fat protocol and notice these two things so far:
                                Sleep - definitely improved
Energy - constant during the day
Hunger - very reduced (soooo good, after the first week in which I thought that I have black hole in my stomach)

                                I'm happy
