    Have you had this dessert? and if so, how did you make it differently?

    Ingredients that you will need for 4 serving of Paleo-ized Kluai Nam Wa:
    3 Ė 5 Red bananas (can also use regular bananas)
    1/4 cup Coconut Cream
    1 1/2 cup Coconut Milk
    1 pinch Sea Salt
    1 tsp Organic Vanilla Extract

    We recently covered why cooking with coconut oil is good and beneficial for us. Many folks have asked us about Coconut Cream lately, what it is, why itís good for us, etc. So we wanted to shed some light on it, as we enjoy it all the time. Itís an amazing energy food and itís completely natural. Coconut Cream Concentrate is certified organic whole coconut meat in concentrated form. It contains no additives* (not even water). The dried coconut meat is ground into a very fine powder, giving it a creamy consistency due to its high fat content. Since it is 70% fat, it is a rich source of pure coconut oil. Note: this is a food, not a cooking oil.
    Why red bananas? Because they are less sweet, have a slightly tangy taste and donít get as mushy as yellow bananas. This dish can also be made with the little greenish yellow cousin (not to be confused with plantains) of these little red lovelies.
    So how do you make this traditional dish?
    Peel the bananas and cut them vertically into half, then once again cut the pieces horizontally, basically resulting in 4 pieces for each banana.
    Pour the coconut milk into a small sauce pan and heat on high until it begins to boil. Once the coconut milk is at a boiling point, add bananas and tiny pinch of sea salt and reduce heat to medium. Cook bananas until tender, but be careful not to overcook them, or they will be a mash. Once they are tender turn off the heat. Now add the coconut cream to the pan. Continue to stir, carefully, until all the lumps have disappeared. Let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes and serve.
    Note: The bananas should remain as distinct pieces and not break down to a pulp. We love this dessert cold as well.
    Want to add an antioxidant punch?
    Follow the preparation instructions above, but add fresh berries, such as raspberries, blueberries and some strawberries with a little cinnamon on top! Oh, yeah baby! Now that our friends, is Food Porn.

        where does a person find this coconut cream concentrate? I've never seen or heard of it before.

          I'd love to hear a recipe for Thai Iced Tea, that didn't include sugar. My tea friends, and thai restaurantures tell me it's impossible, but I say they're wrong, wrong, wrong.

              Hi Canarygirl,

              We order our from Tropical Traditions they have awesome products and great prices. We try not to run out. But we love this dessert and make it all the time. Let me know what you think after you try it. :-)

                  I drink thai tea all the time. Traditional way is to brew thai tea (it is it's own tea), sweeten first with sugar and then finish with sweetened condensed milk. If you don't sweeten with the sugar first to get the same sweetness you have to add to much milk and it is way to milky.

                  My way I brew the tea, sweeten first with stevia, then I add in some evaporated milk that I have sweetened by disolving stevia in it. Kinda like my own sweetened condensed milk but it is from a natural low carb alternative. Not 100% the same but it gets the job done.

                    What's it like unsweetened? (I dislike stevia intensely.)

                      Done. With strawberry halves. Topped it with walnuts because I wanted crunchy. This might not be sweet enough for SAD eaters, but it was excellent for me.

                        DarthFriendly: Permit me to introduce you to something that is worth trying at least once. I make it often in cold seasons.


                        Tibetan Butter Tea (Po Cha)

                        boil five to six cups of water, then turn down the fire.
                        add three bags of tea or two heaping tablespoon of loose tea in the water and boil again for a couple of minutes.
                        usually black tea because the traditional tea is hard to get in the states00. I use Twinnings Irish Breakfast. The taste comes close.
                        remove the tea bags or if you use loose tea, strain the tea leaves.
                        pour the tea, one quarter of a teaspoon of salt, two tablespoons of butter, and a half cup of milk into a big container with a lid, so you can shake the tea, or you can just use a blender.
                        Churn, blend or shake the mixture for two or three minutes. Po cha tastes better if you churn it longer.
                        Serve the tea right away, since po cha is best when it's very hot.

                        For a sweeter tea, try Tibetan milk tea. Boil water, add tea bags--usually black tea, again, I like Irish Breakfast--boil a little longer, then slowly add milk---equal proportions milk and water. Usually a sweetener is added while it boils. Don't let it boil long with milk in pot. Traditionally sugar--white or brown--is used. I often use maple syrup or honey instead. This is not a daily thing for me anymore because of the sugar thing, but once in a while it goes well.

                        Don't try to get yak milk. That is a bull. The cow is a nak or dri.

                          Have you tried some Coconut Crystals? We stumbled on them from Coconut Secret and love it. We don't use much sweetener really, but this seems to be a really good alternative.

                            I don't know. As long as I have drank thai tea it has either been the origional way (pre primal) or my way. I like sweet things so it probably wouldn't be for me.
